    ECD Practitioner Assistant

    Key Responsibilities

    Child Development & Learning Support

    • Support children’s development across cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and language domains.
    • Assist in planning and facilitating age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences.
    • Help identify developmental delays and report concerns appropriately.

    Curriculum Implementation

    • Support the implementation of the National Curriculum Framework (Birth to Four) and CAPS (where applicable).
    • Assist in preparing learning materials and classroom activities.

    Health, Safety & Wellbeing

    • Ensure a safe, clean, and hygienic environment.
    • Follow child protection and safeguarding policies in line with South African regulations.
    • Support children’s nutritional and daily care needs.

    Learning Environment Support

    • Help create an inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
    • Assist in setting up indoor and outdoor learning spaces.

    Observation & Reporting

    • Support the observation and documentation of children’s development.
    • Maintain accurate records (attendance, incidents, progress notes).

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with teachers, centre managers, and support staff.
    • Engage positively with parents and caregivers.

    Minimum Requirements

    • ECD NQF Level 4 Certificate (required).
    • Must live in Princess, Roodepoort, or surrounding West Rand areas.

    Advantageous Qualifications

    • ECD NQF Level 5 (Higher Certificate or Diploma).
    • First Aid Level 1 certification.
    • Training in Child Protection/Safeguarding.
    • CAPS and NCF training.
    • Inclusive Education or Special Needs support training.

    Business Development Officer (Remote work)

    Requirements

    Work collaboratively with internal relationships

    • Work closely with the BD team to ensure the effective planning, implementations and delivery of fundraising activities and events.
    • Maximise the effectiveness of engagement and stewardship through marketing and promotional events.
    • Work closely with senior management, Projects and Operations to support the development of new business.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure efficient processes are in place and exceptional support is delivered. 

    Manage existing corporate partners

    • Secure personal income target and contribute to the achievement of team targets.
    • Carry out day-to-day responsibilities for managing relationships and communications with a portfolio of existing and new partners/investors, ensuring exceptional stewardship.
    • Support the development and delivery of partner fundraising and associated activities, attending in-person engagements, where required.
    • Develop and deliver effective PR, communications and engagement activities, working closely with communications, marketing and digital activities where appropriate.
    • Provide written reports to partners/investors as required.
    • Work closely with Operations and Projects to maximise the effectiveness of engagement and stewardship events in supporting the development of existing and prospective relationships. 

    Source new business:

    • Attend networking events to identify prospective new business opportunities.
    • Research, approach and develop new partnership/investment opportunities as agreed by the National Business Development & Marketing Manager.
    • Develop, write and present persuasive and innovative proposals and presentations to investors in conjunctions with the National Business Development & Marketing Manager and colleagues.
    • Contribute to the preparation for meetings and pitches by developing profiles and compiling information as directed.
    • Source and secure Donations in Kind (DiK) required within the organisation to reduce the organisational expenditure budget.

    Administration

    • Support the development of fundraising operational plans.
    • Ensure effective use of Cotlands SOP’s for managing and developing existing and prospective partnerships/investment.
    • Ensure all donations and income are correctly, recorded, tracked and acknowledged.
    • Track, analyse, measure and report on fundraising results and activities, thereby ascertaining the relevant Return on Investment (ROI).
    • Provide regular income and activity reports, as directed, to the National Business Development & Marketing Manager.

     General

    • Contribute to special organisation-wide projects and initiatives, as requested.
    • Get to know the work of Cotlands and the priority areas for funding in order to support the fundraising strategy.
    • Maintain up to date personal knowledge of play-based learning, toy libraries and other industry relevant knowledge including the relevant terminology.
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding donor and beneficiary information.
    • Comply with Cotlands’ policies, procedures and corporate image.
    • Ensure that behaviour and decisions are driven by professionalism and excellent stewardship. 
    • Keep up to date with cutting edge strategies and activities, especially in the international arena and global markets.
    • Generate innovative and creative ideas to generate income.

    Qualifications, knowledge, experience requirements:

    Relevant qualifications

    • Experience in sales, PR, marketing and/or fundraising
    • International fundraising knowledge and experience
    • International investor relationships and network would be an added advantage
    • Experience in account management and/or customer care
    • Experience in database management
    • Good understanding of the principles of corporate fundraising
    • Good understanding of prospect research and vetting methods
    • Valid EB driver's licence and own reliable transport
    • Very strong computer skills - complete MS Word package

    Parent Programme Facilitator

    Key Responsibilities

    Programme Facilitation

    • Facilitate play-based sessions with parents/caregivers and children aged 0–3 years.
    • Demonstrate and guide developmentally appropriate play activities that promote early learning and bonding.
    • Support parents to actively participate in play and learning with their children.
    • Facilitate group workshops that share practical information about child development, early learning, and responsive caregiving.

    Programme Implementation

    • Deliver sessions according to approved lesson plans and programme guidelines.
    • Prepare learning materials and ensure resources are available for each session.
    • Ensure sessions are engaging, inclusive, and culturally appropriate.

    Community Engagement

    • Build positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and community members.
    • Encourage consistent attendance and participation of families in the programme.

    Monitoring and Administration

    • Maintain attendance registers and programme records.
    • Provide feedback on programme progress and challenges to the Programme Coordinator.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Level 4 equivalent qualification.
    • Experience working with young children (0–5 years) and/or parents or caregivers.

    • Ability to communicate clearly in the local language(s) of the community.

    Toy Librarian John Taola Gaetsewe

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Quality service

    • Administration
    • Provide high quality front line and inter departmental service
    • Give accurate, clear and sensitive responses to client enquiries
    • Assist with maintaining clerical and administrative systems to ensure an efficient and effective toy library service to all
    • Assist with maintaining reception area, display table, office and kitchen in neat and orderly manner

    • Assist with building relationships with community children, primary caregivers and ECD centres
    • Assist with the promotion of toy library services and programmes to community members, primary caregivers, donors

    Risk management

    • Use safe methods and techniques for shifting and lifting heavy equipment
    • To take care of all resources, consumable items and equipment to prevent waste, damage or loss
    • Assist with effective tracking systems of all the equipment and resources to identify damages or loss
    • Assist with recovery systems to prevent permanent loss or damage of equipment and  resources
