    Payroll Operations Supervisor

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Assist in managing SAP ECC6 payroll operations, including data validation, payroll processing cycles, and integrations with HR and finance systems. 
    • Ensure the accurate execution of payroll processes in line with procedures defined by the Payroll Operations Lead 
    • Ensure compliance with South African labor laws, mining regulations (e.g., MHSA), tax requirements, and company policies. 
    • Lead payroll team in resolving queries, auditing outputs, and optimizing processes for efficiency in a 24/7 mining environment, and escalate where necessary. 
    • Support SAP ECC6 payroll configurations, upgrades, and reporting tailored to mining payroll operations, including unionised workforce environments. 
    • Collaborate with SoluGrowth for performance reviews, training, and seamless handover protocols. 
    • Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of payroll outputs, including payslips, reports, statutory declarations, and third-party payments. 
    • Support internal process improvements and ensure best practices are followed for BPO payroll delivery. 
    • Supervise day-to-day payroll activities of the payroll team 
    • Allocate payroll workloads and monitor completion 
    • Review payroll calculations before final sign-off 
    • Provide guidance and coaching to payroll administrators 
    • Assist with onboarding and training of payroll staff 
    • Assist with payroll reconciliations including PAYE, UIF and SDL 
    • Support EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliation processes 
    • Assist during internal and external payroll audits 

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 

    • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; relevant qualification in Payroll Administration (e.g., Payroll Association of South Africa certificate) preferred. 
    • 5+ years' payroll experience in a high-volume, industrial environment, with proven SAP ECC6 proficiency (modules: HCM Payroll, Time Management), mining environment preferred. 
    • Hands-on experience with time & attendance systems (e.g., Kronos or similar) and leave management processes. 
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel for reconciliations, Word for reports, Outlook for communication) 
    • Minimum 3 years of full-function payroll experience in a BPO or shared services environment (will be to your advantage). 
    • Demonstrated experience using SAP ECC6 to manage multiple payrolls. 
    • Understanding of shift-based payroll, allowances, and overtime calculations common in mining environments.

    Payroll Assurance / Senior Payroll Administrators

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee end-to-end payroll cycles in SAP ECC6 (HCM Payroll, Time Management), including mass uploads, validations, and processing for 5,000+ employees with mining-specific elements like danger pay, shift allowances, and production bonuses.
    • Supervise time & attendance and leave management processes, resolve complex disputes, audit data accuracy, and integrate with biometric/clocking systems.
    • Mentor and train junior administrators; allocate tasks and ensure team adherence to deadlines and standards.
    • Perform advanced reconciliations, forecasting, and reporting (e.g., cost per employee, SARS/UIF/ SDL submissions);
    • identify and implement process improvements to reduce errors and processing time.
    • Act as escalation point for employee/supervisor queries, providing expert guidance with superior people skills in a unionized, multicultural mining setting.
    • Ensure full compliance with BCEA, MHSA, POPIA, and company policies.
    • Support internal/external audits.
    • Drive payroll best practices.
    • Stay abreast of legislative changes and mining industry trends.
    • Contribute to system upgrades and cross-functional projects (e.g., with IT/Finance).
    • Review payroll calculations before final sign-off.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Matric (Grade 12) plus relevant qualification (e.g., Payroll Association of South Africa diploma or equivalent); degree in HR/Finance advantageous.
    • 5+ years' payroll experience in mining/industrial sectors, with advanced SAP ECC6 expertise (HCM modules, custom configurations).
    • Proven track record in time & attendance systems, leave management, and high-volume payroll processing.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel pivot tables/VBA, Power BI for reporting, Word/PowerPoint).
    • Supervisory experience essential.
    • Minimum 3 years of full-function payroll experience in a BPO or shared services environment (will be to your advantage).

    • Ensure accurate monthly EMP201 and bi-annual EMP501 reconciliations
    • Manage year-end tax processes including IRP5 submissions
    • Ensure compliance with SARS, BCEA, and client governance frameworks
    • Ensure payroll controls, audit trails, and compliance documentation are maintained
    • Support internal and external payroll audits

    Payroll Administrator

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Accurately capture, verify, and process payroll data using SAP ECC6, including overtime, allowances, deductions, and statutory payments for 5,000+ employees across multiple shafts and surface operations.
    • Manage time & attendance systems, integrating shift clocking data, resolving discrepancies, and investigating anomalies.
    • Administer leave management, including annual, sick, family responsibility, and mining-specific leave types, ensuring compliance with BCEA and company policies.
    • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and month-end closings; liaise with finance for payments and SARS submissions.
    • Provide excellent support to employees and supervisors, resolving payroll queries with empathy and professionalism in a diverse, unionized workforce.
    • Maintain data integrity, identify process improvements, and stay updated on mining payroll requirements, including safety bonus calculations.
    • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with POPIA, mining health & safety standards, and audit requirements.

    HSE Officer

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The incumbent will be expected to undertake regular occupational health, safety and environment compliance site assessments, inspection, and audits within a legislative framework. 
    • Schedule & attend HSE meetings to monitor compliance and corrective actions. 
    • Facilitate risk assessments and major incidents investigations and determine mitigation measures needed for HSE interventions. 
    • Make recommendations on relevant training and awareness campaigns to support Health and Safety. 
    • Write up safe work procedures and performance reports and engage with operations around the implementation of recommendations, identify occupational health and safety interventions to address compliance shortcomings, analyses quarterly self-assessment reports and recommend required intervention. 
    • Promote health and safety through competency checks, health and safety programmes and training 
    • Maintain and ensure the implementation and effectiveness of the environmental management system ISO 14001, and take the necessary actions to keep the system running effectively. 
    • Follow-up the control of wastes, emissions, hazards, and other aspects in accordance with legal and other requirements and ensure the implementation of the corrective actions and report the nonconformities to management 
    • Based on the Business Process Management (BPM) processes the job holder is responsible for: 
    • S6 (Assure product conformity)
    • S6.3 Responsible to comply with all Hygiene requirements in the plant.
    • S6.2 Support complaint handling by reporting all identified non-conformities and support in the implementation of effective corrective actions determined by the process owner, when needed.
    • S10 (Ensure occupational health, safety and environment)
    • Ensure that HSE compliance in own area of responsibility.
    • Report any incident or unsafe conditions seen in the plant/ work area

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Tertiary qualification in related field advantageous.
    • SAMTRAC Certified.
    • +5 years’ experience in the same or related field  
    •  Legislation, Regulation, and Guidelines. 
    • Good command of English Language. 
    • Competent in Microsoft Office.
