Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification
• A tertiary qualification will be beneficial
• Previous experience managing time & attendance data in the Web Register System will be an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

• Generate and maintain employee’s time and attendance on the Web Register System
• Run various management reports from the Web Register system
• Co-ordinate overtime and shift planning in conjunction with the areas to which assigned
• Capture employee approved leave requests
• Verify attendance and hours worked
• Record and manage travel vouchers, travel claims, leave forms, etc
• Provide employees with leave reports on request
• Attend to employees’ queries
• Monitor, capture and print time sheets for employees
• Ensure compliance

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Valid Roofbolt Operator certificate of competence is essential
• Competent B Certificate
• 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Must be able to read and write
• Knowledge of the Mine Health and safety act
• Good operating ability in confined space
• General knowledge of underground operations
• Must be medically fit and pass a medical examination

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

• Conducts pre-operational visual, physical, and operational checks of machines
• Face preparation (Install temporary support and do sounding and barring)
• Operates machine from face to face safely and efficiently
• Assists in maintaining ventilation and suspension of trailing cables and water hoses
• Drills bolt/long anchor holes into the roof as marked off by a competent person
• Install “tell tales “As per Miners instruction
• Correct depth of holes communicated to operator
• Install roof bolts/long anchors into holes as per RE recommendations
• Tests bolts for specified tension, using torque wrenches
• Apply lock-out procedures as and when required
• Ensure that the correct PPE is in place
• Perform any other legitimate activity that might be required

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Grade 12 or N3 Trade Theory
• Red Seal Trade Certificate – Fitter
• Gases & Flameproofing Certificate
• 5 years’ experience as an underground fitter in a coal mine
• Code EB driver license
• Must be able to speak and write English
• Ability to work independently and as a team, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excel
• Good planning and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Knowledge and experience in LHD’s, face drill, feeder breakers, compressors and air equipment, pumps/valves/pipes, conveyor belts, jackhammers, gearboxes, roof bolt, coal cutter, scoops, ventilation fans, diesel engines, repairs & flame proofing
• Basic knowledge of welding and gas welding
• Knowledge of Oils, Hydraulics/Hydraulic equipment

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

• Maintenance of all underground and surface machines and equipment as well as water and power reticulation, ventilation appliances and conveyor systems
• Attend to call-out and emergencies as required
• Ability to do fault finding on hydraulic systems
• Ensure all tasks are planned and properly executed on time and that Work Orders are completed correctly within the given time frame
• Work according to Standard Procedures as well as Mine Health and Safety Standards
• Ensure that effective communication and reporting is established and maintained daily
• Perform any other legitimate activity that might be required by the GES or relevant line manager

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

• Assist Mechanics in maintenance and repairs
• Safely and efficiently Operates LHD according to laid down procedures and job standards
• Performs visual pre-start check on machine, according to the pre-start checklist and reports defects to the Miner
• Maintaining proper loading techniques
• Maintaining good housekeeping in the work environment
• Safely and sufficiently operate the LHD
• Identifies symptoms leading to mechanical breakdowns before they occur, by observing gauges, visual inspections and listening for abnormal sounds and immediately reports any defect to the Miner
• Carry out a risk assessment before commencing loading
• Achieve targets as agreed by the Mine Overseer
