    HRD Instructor - Mining

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12/ Standard 10 Certificate.
    • Competent A & B Certificate
    • Rockbreaker Certificate Level 2 in a Trackless Mining Environment.
    • Assessor’s Certificate.
    • Train the trainer Certificate/ Coach Learners.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • Advantageous: National Certificate in Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practices (ODETDP) NQF Level 4

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 2-5 years practical experience as Production Team Leader in a trackless environment.
    • Advantageous: 6 months practical training, facilitation and presentation experience.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • To successfully administer, record and transfer the required (theoretical and practical mining refresher, blasting assistants, operational) knowledge, skills and attitude to a learner to perform his/her duties at the required set standards in a mining environment. To continuously monitor expiry dates of mine licenses, schedule assessments and renew licenses upon demonstration of learner’s competence.
    • Arrange training resources, i.e. venue, data projectors, computers, licenses with assistance from others. Perform assigned administration functions accurately and timeously. Complete Attendance Registers.
    • Conduct training programs according to the Annual Training Schedule, and re-training as requested by line management. Facilitate training programs in a simulation/ Lecturer/ workplace environment. Follow-up and monitor training. Perform Ad Hoc duties as requested by supervisor. Perform daily PTOs as required, e.g. part-induction for short-term visitors. Conduct follow-up training, e.g. PTOs.
    • Conduct final theoretical and practical assessments to ensure competence of learners.
    • Ensure relevant training area and equipment is clean at all times. Ensure all training resources are stored after use.
    • Ensure health and safety of all learners and learning environment. Assume responsibility for effective discipline of learners. Ensure effective learning takes place by continuously assessing the knowledge, skills and attitude of the learners.
    • Perform diagnostic assessments (training gaps/needs), do corrective training and administer final competence declaration on Mining A- & B-Band learners and operators.
    • Train learner/operator on relevant machine/equipment at the Surface/Underground training venue. Conduct formative assessment on operating skills. Submit POE to supervisor for issuing of license.
    • Conduct relevant training and/or final assessment in the actual workplace, e.g. underground. Submit summative assessment to supervisor for issuing of proof of training.
    • Conduct PTOs in the actual workplace to ensure application of learned skills and competencies.
    • Update license monitoring system timeously and accurately. Regularly monitor system to ensure legal compliance.

    Section Engineer

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Degree or National Diploma: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • Certificate: GCC Mines and Works.

     EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 7 years extensive practical experience in a mining / production environment (Underground TMM, conveyors, and associated Underground infrastructure).
    • 2 - 3 years experience as a section engineer in a mining environment (Included above).

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Ensure efficient and effective maintenance and utilisation of allocated underground equipment and production processes to achieve production targets for the function/department/section to ensure business objectives are met. To manage and coordinate the engineering and operations activities and ensure that regulation 2.13.1 legal responsibility as required by statutory requirements are adhered to.

    Financial Perspective:

    • Contribute to annual departmental budget planning by compiling operational, capex and labour budgets for sub-function and submit to line management for approval.
    • Effectively manage sub function and its objectives in line with approved budgets (operational, capex and labour), report variances as required and recommend / implement remedial action within span of control.
    • Review and authorise payments in line with approved budget and policy and submit for final processing.
    • Identify operational, labour and capex requirements within sub-function for efficient delivery of production targets and submit.
    • Strategic planning, process management and systems management. Budget and cost control.

    Internal Business Processes Perspective:

    • Ensure efficient and effective execution of Asset Management Strategy for mine. Maintain and improve performance management information systems for Engineering Department, asset performance of the load out and logistical processes to achieve dispatch targets.
    • Coordinate Mining operations to ensure optimum and cost-effective recovery of Ore in accordance with sound mining practice to ensure the attainment of Department's production objectives.
    • Assist management in compiling the operational strategy, setting of achievable production targets and to compile, manage and control operational.
    • Application of engineering standards, principles and practice for the planning, design, and implementation of standard engineering outcomes.
    • Conduct basic analysis of engineering processes and process elements.

    • Provide recommendations on equipment modification for improvements and upgrades in consultation with the OEM through a change management process, work planning and scheduling, budget, and cost management, TMM capital infrastructure management, labour and contractors management, leaner artisan, artisans and supervisors development and training. Schedule and manage the execution of the Enterprise Asset Management activities across sectional boundaries to meet availability and reliability targets by ensuring effective control of manpower and resources utilization. Analyses production and asset performance trends against set operational targets and to identify and implement corrective action and improvement opportunities, including liaison across interfaces. Assist management in compiling operational strategy, setting of achievable production targets and to compile, manage and control Capex and CAR budgets and to manage contractor performance against service level agreements. Manage the availability of spares and internal store stock levels including expediting.

    Customer / Stakeholder Relations Perspective

    • Build, manage, and maintain healthy diverse workable internal relations (Peer, Unions, Team, Organisation) and implement remedial actions where required. Build, manage and maintain Healthy external relations (Head Office, communities, government, etc.) to assist in achievement of organisational goals.
    • Maintain internal and external relations to ensure functional/departmental needs are met and employees are satisfied.
    • Always making sure the stakeholders comes first when it comes to catering for their needs.

    Organisational & Growth Perspective

    • Drive actions to encourage, implement and improve systems.
    • Liaise with line function and management staff to ensure the efficient and effective management of interfaces which impacts or could potentially impact on production objectives, including maintenance requirements.

    • Ensure compliance with legislation by setting and achieving procurement targets in terms of Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment and Mining Charter requirements.
    • Develop and implement procurement policies that will aid in the achievement of procurement targets and statutory compliance.

    Drill Rig Operator

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10/Standard 8 Certificate.
    • Competent B Certificate.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • Completion of relevant approved training programme.
    • Advantageous: 6 months practical experience as Competent Operator on Drill Rig.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Safely operate the Drill Rig within designated areas and in accordance with set operating standards in order to achieve set production requirements.
    • Operate the Drill Rig to achieve production requirements. Operate and control single machine following correct and safe operating procedures. Continuously observe/monitor component performance against standards to identify any sub performance/non-conformance or deviations, and report to Supervisor.
    • Do pre-shift inspection of machines, machine parts, and/or components of the production line to ensure production flow according to standards within prescribed processes and procedures.
    • When equipment is faulty and at end of the shift, ensure lock-out procedure is followed and failure time recorded, report timeously to control room and supervisor.
    • Perform minor maintenance on the Drill Rig by greasing the boom, replacing bolts on drifter and changing consumables. Report all other maintenance issues to the Artisan.

    Auto Electrician

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 / Standard 10 with Maths / Maths literacy.
    • Relevant Trade Test Certificate.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • TMM Licences “A” Dover.
    • Advantageous: N2 Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 2 - 3 years practical trade specific experience in a heavy industrial/mining/ plant environment/ TMM.
    • Advantageous: 1 - 2 year practical Earthmoving equipment experience

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • To ensure maintenance and breakdowns are done on the production fleet. To ensure the vehicles under his / her responsibility comply with the mine’s code of practice applicable to TMM for operational usage.

    • Ensure workshop and working environment is always clean. Assist in ensuring the workshop's operational functioning. 
    • Schedule and organise workload, spares, tools and resources according to maintenance / breakdown schedule processes and procedures. Obtain permits and safe declarations to work and related permits for work to be performed by complying with the required procedures related to work permits. Execute work against issued work order in a timeous and accurate manner. Complete work orders and return to supervisor for   sign-off. Conduct daily inspections, whether scheduled or ad hoc, and record feedback on work order. Conduct planning of job shown on work order to ensure job is executed in shortest space of time.
    • Conduct mini risk assessment and lock-out procedure in own area of work and within span of control.
    • Perform asset care activities as required to maintenance / breakdown schedule including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all relevant stakeholders. Operate and maintain specified mobile equipment in line with requirements of Code of Practice, policies and procedures. Adhere to manufacturer's (OEM’s) maintenance service requirements.
    • Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom according to labelling. Ensure that personal toolbox is in safe working condition. All equipment is inspected continuously to repair identified defects in time to prevent breakdowns, damaged equipment, injuries, and production delays and to identify future defects. Plan, order, collect and utilise parts to minimize production delays, due to equipment and machinery failure. Equipment is maintained pro-actively and serviced on a scheduled basis to ensure equipment availability and reliability. Breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability and reported to the Chargehand/Foreman and Control Room. Report and communicate unrepairable equipment to the supervisor.
    • Ensure effective teamwork and good communication by establishing interaction between members.

    Civil Foreman

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Relevant Mechanical Trade Certificate with minimum N4 Engineering Studies.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • TMM Licences “A” Dover.
    • Advantageous: Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.
    • Advantageous: Supervisory Certificate

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 3 - 5 years practical relevant trade experience within a heavy industry / mining / production environment.
    • Advantageous: 1 - 3 years practical Supervisory experience.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • To ensure equipment availability and reliability through application of maintenance management systems and resources to achieve infrastructure targets. To plan, execute and manage the section in line with the department/ functional requirements in order to meet business objectives. To implement and manage an effective safety health environment and quality management system to ensure the mine meets legal requirements and continuously strives to improve its inherent risk profile.
    • Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of infrastructure machines, systems and equipment to limit failure and optimize infrastructural development processes.
    • Ensure operational efficiency and quality, e.g. Facilities (change houses) working
    • Assume responsibility for coordinating first line maintenance to limit equipment downtime e.g. washing machines, tumble dryers, boilers, maintenance on machines
    • Control equipment availability e.g. washing machines, tumble dryers, boilers, maintenance on machines; inspect contract or vehicles (LDVs, trucks) per guidelines
    • Complete inspection of mobile cranes following guidelines.
    • Drive (mining) improvement projects toward enhancing the operations. Ensure equipment optimization by conducting timeous investigations, benchmarking and feasibility studies toward identifying deviations / deficiencies in a proactive manner.
    • Make recommendations in respect of appropriate principles / methodology to be followed.
    • Participate actively in infrastructural site meetings.
    • Oversee the contracting services rendered to the entire mine by assisting in developing a scope and managing the commercial process to appoint Contractors.
    • Manage relevant contractors on site and ensure adherence to rules and regulations.
    • Monitor contractor performance in accordance with SLA's.
    • Maintain and improve operational supporting systems and procedures including management of contractor performance against service level agreements.
    • Compile and distribute daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports and documentation.
    • Monitor tasks delegated to subordinates to ensure Department effectiveness and targets are met.

    Millwright

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate with Maths / Maths Literacy.
    • Relevant Trade Test Certificate.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • TMM Licences “A” Dover.
    • Advantageous: N2 Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 2 years practical experience working as a Qualified Millwright in a heavy industrial/mining/plant environment.
    • Advantageous: 1 year PLC experience.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Safely maintain and repair mechanical parts, components and equipment and low and high level electrical equipment.
    • Ensure workshop and working environment is always clean. Assist in ensuring the workshop's operational functioning.
    • Conduct regular Plant inspections. Attend to both electrical and mechanical breakdowns. Assess breakdowns and apply appropriate fault-finding techniques. Maintain and/or repair low level and high level mechanical and electrical equipment.
    • Participate in improvement teams. Participate in improvement projects. Proactively identify risks and threats to the process. Ensure any operational risks and threats encountered is reported.
    • Complete breakdown work orders. Create work order notifications. Conduct maintenance administration on the appropriate system. Compile a shift/work order report.
    • Perform standby duties as required.
    • Ensure engineering construction is according to standards, procedures, and specifications. Ensure wastage is eliminated. Ensure commissioning deficiencies are eliminated. Ensure compliance with lock-out procedure.

    HR Practitioner: Recruitment
