    Senior Stormwater Engineer - Cape Town

    Job Description

    As a Stormwater Engineer in our Water Resources team, you will provide technical and specialist analysis and design support in the area of stormwater drainage, hydrology and flood management for a wide range of infrastructure projects including major roads, rail and urban development in Africa and around the world.

    • The successful applicant will be required to undertake:
    • Hydrological analysis of storm rainfall
    • Hydrological and hydraulic analysis of catchment runoff and watercourses
    • Hydraulic modelling and design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, erosion/scour protection and other flood control structures
    • Water-sensitive urban design for water quality control
    • Preparation of project specifications, bill of quantities and tender documentation
    • Stormwater master planning and flood risk assessments
    • Mentoring less experienced staff

    Minimum requirements

    • Eight to twelve years' experience in a similar role - essential
    • Experience in hydrological studies, hydraulic analysis and design of stormwater drainage infrastructure such as culverts and bridges - advantageous
    • Experience in the design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, erosion/scour protection, flood control structures and runoff treatment and management devices – advantageous
    • Knowledge of detailed road drainage design and multi-disciplinary interfaces - advantageous.
    • Experience in the use of drainage analysis and associated design software technology applications (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, PCSWMM, 12D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS etc.) - highly advantageous
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent.
    • Masters degree or equivalent, would be an advantage.
    • PrEng registration (or close to registration).

    Associate Engineer - Geometrics/ Civil Engineering

    Job Description

    Role & Responsibilities:

    • You will be working on geometric designs of roads / highways, but also utilizing your civil engineering transportation skills to work on projects.
    • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Infraworks design software packages:

    Senior Engineer (Geometrics) - Centurion

    Job Description

    The Senior Engineer is a senior technical resource and delivers discipline involvement in projects and ensures effective delivery input of others. Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, drawings and reports etc. The role includes design development, design review, supervision, coordination and design documentation. Guides junior engineers and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete design works.

    Technical Excellence:

    • May be required to coordinate small - mid-size project teams of discipline-led engineers.
    • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment as an experienced engineer.
    • Provides specialised technical input into studies and design work for the expertise and identifies discrepancies in results.
    • Develops design by gathering, correlating and analysing engineering data using computer software and established procedures and standards.
    • Follows existing or develops design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by self and others.

    Technical Director - Rail Design Management

    The responsibilities of this role include:

    • Works with rail discipline leadership to prepare proposals and do assessment of multidisciplinary packages of work. Categorizes packages of work, elaborates project execution plans and defines the delivery strategy, including composition of design teams across different disciplines and locations.
    • Responsible for leading a design team working for internal clients, integrating resources from different global offices.
    • Accountable for the development of delivery methodologies which manage risk, maximize on opportunities for the pursuit of delivering multi-disciplinary projects to budget and schedule for our clients.
    • Initiates and directs the planning, development, and continuous monitoring of the project scope, resources, procedures, budget and schedule for the packages of work allocated to the project team.
    • Reviews project key performance indicators and forecasts any modifications to schedules, cost estimates, and financial reports, and effectively reconciles risks to commitments that may exceed assigned schedules and budgets. Reports KPIs and metrics regularly.
    • Delivers effective communication inclusive of internal clients and team members to clarify expectations and requirements.
    • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others. Approves and signs off on work.
    • Can apply principles of rail System Engineering including requirements specification and management, designing for robustness (Whole System Lifecycle), Safety by Design and System Integration and Verification.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Proven track record of technical work on railways design collaborating with international and multi-cultural teams (+10 years), combined with design management experience (+5 years) on large international Railways Projects.
    • Previous Contractor’s Design Manager experience in railways projects could be considered favorably.
    • Strong technical leadership of teams in the delivery of projects focused on delivering for the Client.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within teams or in a wider collaboration.
    • Experience with international regulations and standards (i.e AASTHO; Australian Codes; British Standards, etc.).
    • Proven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management System.
    • Team management experience.
    • Experience working in the UK (Network Rail), North America region / Australia will be considered favorably.
    • 15+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification of which 5+ years should be in a technical supervisory role.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science / Engineering degree in Civil Engineering (or Railways Engineering) from an accredited University. Master of Science / Engineering will be considered favorably.
    • Professionally registered as an Engineer with ECSA or equivalent professional body is required.
    • UK, US and/or Australia Professional Engineer license will be considered favorably.
