    Asset Finance Service Consultant

    Act as a point of telephony contact to the customer and dealer in the Fit for Processing process

    • Register all unregistered asset dealers and suppliers that any Asset Finance Consultant needs registered for purposes of financing an asset and obtain the required documentation for verification: cancelled cheque, letter head documents and general banking details from the client and register the dealer on the SAP product system and validate these details prior to submission.
    • Prepare or update (if existing loan) documents and files to ensure that the necessary enquiries such as Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) and Customer Acceptance Screening Application (CASA) can be made and updated
    • Capture leads and update status on SAP system or related system or create a new account for non RB customer
    • Communicate all relevant information to consultant in both the internal and alliance market, relationship executive and business analyst in the MFS environment at stipulated process intervals during the deal progress.
    • Follow up on faulty or outstanding security documents and drive the rectification process.
    • Maintain a CAF securities registry and exception reports on securities
    • Read the Conditions of Grant that are received from the RE or the Asset Finance Analyst in the internal market or the Business Analyst in the external or MAN environment once a credit application has been approved
    • Once the conditions have been reviewed, perform a compliance check that the customer is CASA/FICA compliant. If all the details are found to be up to date, continue with the fit for processing function. If the details are not up to date and the customer is found to be noncompliant, then inform the relevant OB who must obtain all needed documentation to ensure FICA/CASA compliance.
    • Prepare facility letters/ commitment letters with term sheets and loan agreements in accordance with credit approval requirements.
    • Completed and validated facility letter/s must be forwarded through to the Asset Finance Consultant in the internal and alliance environment or the BA in the MFS environment (by hand, courier or any other appropriate method or means)
    • Capture the deal on SAP once a signed facility letter is received and submit the complete pack needed for processing through to the Business
    • Processing Centre. The submission of the documentation will be through Sybrin after critically assessing accuracy of all new and existing loan documentation.
    • Prepared contracts and securities by the Business Processing centre must be printed through the Web sphere system.
    • Printed documents must be handed through to the Asset Finance Consultant or the Asset Finance Analyst in the MAN environment to obtain signatures, and once returned, must be faxed through to the processing centre for validation and pay-out.
    • Ensure that the original facility letter, securities and insurance confirmation are received and finalized for file archiving.
    • Original documents that have been filed must be sent through to Group Operations while copies that are filed are retained in the client file thatis sent through to the CAF Help desk.
    • Original securities must be sent through to the BPC
    • Access the ABSA SMS system to check existing securities that are on record for an existing RB customer.

    Overall purpose
    The role is two-fold within Treasury: 
    1)    Lead and coordinate Financial Resource Management initiatives. The main focus is to:

    Stakeholder management

    • Represent Transactional Banking in all sales platforms and engage other business unit leaders across
    • Everyday Banking, Relationship Banking, and RBB to establish a working relationship conducive for value creation across RBB products and services
    • Act as conduit to the Transactional Banking teams by continuously communicating all sales and service related information coming from various sources ensuring that it is carefully interpreted and conveyed.
    • Establish and run regular engagement forums that discuss sales rhythm and bring together the necessary experts to engage with sales teams at national and regional levels.
    • Proactively engage with all the relevant bodies in the Transactional Banking space including effective partner management of Business Originators.

    Accountability: Performance Reporting

    • Drive the business operational and strategic reporting requirements
    • Co-ordinate a 3-year Medium term Plans (MTP) to guide top-down target setting
    • Facilitate Integrated Sales Planning & Execution discipline
    • Drive the Transactional Banking sales indicator dashboard (i.e. balanced scorecard containing key shared measures and metrics relating back to the key strategic sales and revenue objectives of Home Loans)

    Accountability: People Management

    • Oversee the activities of the Transactional Banking sales and commercialization team.
    • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching.
    • Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
    • Determine and analyze development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
    • Establish and maintain a succession plan for the team. Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from the People Function.
    • Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met. Plans should be revised at least twice a year.
    • Develop and nurture a team of best-of-breed talent that understand the overall RBB context and who will act as key change agents and ultimately progress to fulfill key leadership roles in the bank.
    • Provide a springboard/platform for high performance transformation candidates to be inculcated in the RBB
    • Cluster environment and be fast-tracked for future roles.
    • Review and update the department’s organization structure and role description on at least an annual basis to ensure that they are fit for purpose and contain all the accountabilities of each team member.
    • Motivate to and obtain approval from the relevant business approvers for any additional headcount for the team.
    • Approve leave requests for team members and create leave plan to ensure adequate coverage.
    • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from Human
    • Resources when required.
    • Resolve grievances raised by team members.
    • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Accelerator program and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
    • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognized

    Qualification requirement 

    • Commercial B Degree in Business, Commerce and/or Management or equivalent NQF level 7 or higher qualification
    • At least 7 (seven) years banking Executive experience
    • An in depth understanding of systems, processes and operating procedures for Sales and a keen understanding of Credit and Operational Risk.
    • Detailed understanding of Sales Strategy, Physical Channels (branch banking operating structure and interface with Virtual Channels
    • Experience of managing teams and a distribution network spread across multiple cities / locations.
    • Experience of working in a multifaceted and multi-segment environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet
    • No criminal record

    Preferred requirements

    • Post graduate degree or MBA or  equivalent NQF level 8 or higher qualification
    • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa with proof of permanent resident status

    Key accountabilities

    Financial Resource Management

    • Challenge business on the optimisation of the funding profile.
    • Challenge business on the maximization of sustainable long term Economic Profit (EP) and Profit after Regulatory Capital Cost (PARCC).
    • Ensure the above objective is achieved within the approved the Regulatory Constraints and Risk Appetite, with a particular focus on capital and funding.
    • Support Financial Resource Optimization initiatives per product, client and distribution. Request capital allocation in plans according to these initiatives.
    • Provide decision support that is business enabling and solution orientated.
    • Obtain and monitor the risk adjusted performance metrics for each relevant business unit business area.
    • Provide support to each business area on the opportunities to maximize the return on capital and profit after capital cost in particular with focus on pricing tools and new product approval processes.
    • Ensure adherence to financial resource policies and limits.
    • Manage appropriate action plans are put into place to close gaps identified, as part of the existing MTP and strategic planning process.
    • Makes recommendations to management and stakeholders and estimates expected current and future year business results/impacts.

    Research and Regulatory Strategy

    • Conduct general research into financial sector by sourcing information from various sources including Regulators and public disclosures in order to understand the factors which influence banking performance and the utilisation of financial resources.
    • Research targeted companies and economic trends both locally and internationally.
    • Obtain, read and analyse research from research houses (debt and equity) for possible research and investment ideas.
    • Perform and co-ordinate multiple, concurrent research projects and produce outputs for various stakeholders.
    • Continuously evaluate external environment, specifically upcoming regulatory changes (prudential, conduct and market infrastructure), and assess the impact on the area’s activities and availability of financial resources.  Where required, discuss any changes which will result in an overall strategic impact with senior stakeholders and, thereafter make agreed amendments to plans.
    • Assist when appropriate in regulatory advocacy efforts, through contributions to industry forums.
    • Produce research without supervision.
    • Recognised as an expert in their discipline.
