    Engineer: Structural - (ENG-010.1)

    About the Role

    • We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to fulfil role of Junior Structural Design or Digital Modeling Engineer and join our Industry or Mission Critical Facilities Advisory Groups in our South Africa offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Umhlanga.

    Job Requirements
    Desired Qualifications and Professional Registration

    • BEng/BSc(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering (specializing in structural engineering).
    • 0 - 5 years’ relevant experience within the consulting engineering environment.
    • Candidate registration with ECSA as Candidate Engineer.
    • Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects is advantageous.
    • Experience in the execution of FMCG industrial building projects or data centre building projects is advantageous.
    • Good knowledge of structural standards, codes, guidelines and working methods.
    • Experience / knowledge of Revit & Prokon / Tekla / Autodesk Robot skills.
    • Experience / knowledge of ACC / BIM360, Revizto & other digital tools.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist / support buildings structural engineering, design & digital modelling during all project phases according to client, national and international standards.
    • Assist / support to assess client/ project structural engineering requirements.
    • Assist / support to prepare concept design and objectively evaluate, both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives/requirements.
    • Assist / support to perform the necessary engineering for buildings structures (steel, concrete and timber structures, etc) and contribute to the drafting of designs in cooperation with and under the direction of the lead engineer(s).
    • Assist / support to address complex technical questions from clients, in cooperation with the lead engineer(s).
    • Assist / support to perform checks and attend meetings with clients and contractors during the execution phase of projects.
    • Assist / support to collaborate with colleagues or third parties on (a part of) the structures design.
    • Assist / support to ensure that from a technical and budgetary point of view (time and money) your processes and activities run according to established principles and as required by quality standards.
    • Assist / support to check calculations, designs and drawings of colleagues or third parties.
    • Maintain project records in accordance with internal quality system.
    • Execute all other tasks expected of your position & role as applicable.

    Professional Engineer: Structural - (ENG-068.1)

    Job Requirements
    Main Responsibilities:

    • Structural engineering and design during all project phases according to client, national and international standards.
    • Assess client/ project structural engineering requirements.
    • Prepare concept design and objectively evaluate, both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives/requirements.
    • Perform the necessary calculations for complex steel, concrete and timber structures and contribute to the drafting of designs in cooperation with expert reviewers.
    • Address complex technical questions from clients, in cooperation with expert reviewers.

    Minimum qualifications, skills and experience:

    • MEng/BEng/BSc degree in Structural/Civil Engineering (specialization in the structural design of buildings).
    • Professional registration with ECSA is required.
    • 5 to 10+ years’ relevant experience within the consulting engineering environment.
    • Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects.
    • Experience in FMCG industrial projects and data centre projects is advantageous.
    • Good knowledge of structural standards, guidelines and working methods.
    • Advanced Revit modelling skills.
    • Advanced Robot / TEKLA & ProKon skills.
    • Experience with the use of 3D calculation software.
    • Parametric Design, Automated Engineering and Augmented Design experience.

    Senior Professional Engineer: Structural - (ENG-039.1)

    About the Role

    • We are looking to recruit a Senior Professional Structural Engineer to fulfil role of Technical Lead in MCF & Industry in South Africa teams which are looking to recruit to expand and develop its South Africa based Structural Engineering team to assist with our growing workload.

    Job Requirements
    Desired Qualifications and Professional Registration

    • BEng / MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering;
    • At least 15 years relevant working experience in buildings structural engineering design and supervision in a consulting engineering environment; Considered well-known and respected expert internally and externally in field of expertise.
    • Professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng is required;
    • Knowledge of BIM processes (ISO19650) and implementation
    • Some experience of Common Data Environment platforms such as Asite, ACC or BIM360
    • Proficient in relevant software tools, including Revit, Revizto and Structural/Civil software including:
    • Prokon
    • TEKLA
    • Autodesk Robot
    • Good knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry, local and international design codes;

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Your role will include:

    • Providing technical leadership to the South Africa Structural Engineering team, reporting to the Associate Director / Director.
    • Provide technical leadership on projects, mentoring, and coaching to design engineers or technologists.
    • Manage and deliver the structural work packages and drive discipline quality assurance / control in multiple projects.
    • People and resourcing management of the structures team.
    • Business development support including technical input into bids and proposals.
    • Maintaining effective communication and relationship with our global partners (NL, GER & UK)
    • There will be a requirement to support our global partners (NL, GER & UK) on MCF & Industry projects.
    • There will be a requirement from time to time to assist our Water, Smart Mobility & Aviation Advisory Groups with a range of projects.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Further development of technical standards, libraries, templates, processes, etc. Drives quality and efficiency improvements.
    • Manage and deliver the structural work packages in multiple projects.
    • Preparation of designs for and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs.
    • Ensure that the structures are designed to meet the necessary building codes and standards. This includes the design of foundations, structural steel, concrete, and other structural elements.
    • Work closely with other discipline teams involved in the design process, including mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, and project managers. You will ensure that all engineering aspects are coordinated and integrated into the overall design.
    • Be responsible for providing technical expertise in civil and structural engineering. You will be expected to be up to date with the latest technologies and industry standards.
    • You will ensure that all project milestones are met on time and within budget. This includes managing the project schedule, budget, and resources.
    • Production of design calculations including using 3D modelling software, checking, and reviewing of calculations produced by others.
    • Producing sketch drawings / details for drawing / modelling by others and complete checking and reviewing of these prior to issue.
    • Preparation of specifications, and assistance with contract documents.
    • Conduct inspections and surveys, preparation of reports, structural analysis, and reporting.
    • You will ensure that the structural teams contribute to achievement of project goals. This includes managing the structures team’s project quality, schedule, budget, and resources.
    • Communicate the status of projects to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad-hoc and formal basis.
