    Commercial Insurance - Relationship Manger

    What will you do?
    The relationship manager will be responsible for promoting new and maintaining existing business by serving as a proactive relationship manager for assigned accounts. Coordinates marketing, sales and support services for assigned accounts to enhance existing relationships and develop new ones. The relationship manager should further insure successful implementation and management of short term initiatives. This job is focused on the retention and profitable growth of allocated broker portfolios through developing and management of strong relationships with intermediaries and internal business partners. This portfolio is spread over the Cape Town-South region

    What will make you successful in this role?

    •     To develop and coordinate broker relationships at a strategic and operational level, with a focus on efficiency, growth and profitability, in line with broker and Santam objectives. Strategies to achieve this will differ according to segmentation / portfolio
    •     To manage a portfolio of business through analysis, interpretation and decision making, while building effective relationships with business partners, both internally and externally
    •     To ensure successful implementation of the black intermediary development Initiative and identify, develop, support and grow the number of black brokers
    •     Good interpersonal skills are essential for the success of the position
       

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    •     Completed GR12
    •     Short term  insurance related qualification or COP certification
    •     FAIS credits (commercial and personal lines)
    •     RE 5 certification
    •     Valid driver’s license
    •     At least 5 years personal lines and commercial experience in an operational environment
    •     Experience in maintaining and growing a profitable portfolio of commercial and personal insurance

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

    •     Knowledge and experience of the Santam / Sanlam synergies will be beneficial 
    •     Fully bilingual (English and Afrikaans)

    Manager Corporate Finance

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Identify and pursue potential transactions in support of the Santam Group corporate finance strategy.

    • Analyse and evaluate opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, start-ups, restructurings and disposals, internally generated or presented to the Santam Group against the Santam strategy. This includes:  

      • Detailed assessments of strategic rationale;

      • Financial impact and shareholder value creation potential;

      • Transaction and implementation risks; 

      • Funding alternatives; and 

      • The impact on existing operations.

    • Structuring, negotiating and closing of transactions, including drafting of transaction proposals and non-binding offer letters.

    • Detailed review of legal agreements to ensure commercial terms are appropriately reflected and transaction risks are adequately addressed.

    • Leading the due diligence process for approved transactions.

    • Makings recommendations to Exco for sign-off on the transactions, within the corporate governance framework, for further recommendation to Santam Board.  This includes drafting of Exco and Board transaction approval documents and presentations.

    • Providing a Corporate Finance advisory service across the Santam Group.    

    • Plan, manage and execute transaction related projects:

      • Ensure adequate resources and management of these resources (in terms of skills required, internal and in-sourced). This includes interaction with investment banks and legal advisors for larger transactions;

      • Manage execution of transaction within relevant time framework;

      • Manage transaction related risks, inter alia feasibility analysis, due diligence, alignment to company strategy and implementation;

      • Perform appropriate detailed valuations of targeted entities, including scenario analyses;

      • Ensure appropriate governance requirements are complied with e.g. regulatory approvals (Competition authorities, Prudential Authority, SARB, JSE, TRP), Exco and Board approvals.

    • Financial support in developing the business cases for Santam’s strategic projects.

      • Commercial evaluation;

      • Financial modelling;

    • Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Exco, BU Heads, Directors, sub-committees, regulatory authorities, legal and tax advisors etc. 

    Qualification

    • CA (SA)

    Knowledge and Experience​​​​​

    • Completed articles at reputable audit firm plus relevant post-articles corporate finance experience

    • At least 5 years relevant experience at a managerial level

    • Project management principles, experience and understanding

    • Advanced valuation and financial modelling skills

    • Excellent working knowledge of SA Companies Act, SA Competition Act,  JSE Listing Requirements, Short-term Insurance Act (preferable) and SARB regulations

    • Strategic level knowledge and experience in the following core areas:

    • Knowledge / experience in the short-term insurance industry is preferable

    Tester (JG8)

    The Guidewire Core Insurance platform has a position available for a Tester who will be based in Bellville.

    The incumbent will take responsibility of the Testing process, tools, techniques and standards that meets business requirements on the Santam Core Insurance Platform.
     

    What will make you successful in this role?
    PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    •     Analyses and develops the proper test coverage with the Business Analyst
    •     Responsible for creating and executing test scripts 
    •     Identify and create necessary test data 
    •     Checking test results and logging defects. 
    •     Analyse test failures
    •     Analyse metrics for quality assessment
    •     May work with Business Analyst to influence and monitor User Acceptance Testing.
    •     Tracking and monitoring of errors and test results with project team
    •     Weekly and testing progress reports sent to management for overall testing reporting 

         Responsibilities may require After hours and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported

     

    Quality Assurance

    •     Functional and Non-Functional testing of developed software to ensure it meets quality standards

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    •     Relevant Tertiary IT qualification preferred 
    •     3+ years’ experience in the Full Software Quality Assurance Lifecycle

    Internal Audit Manager

    What will you do?

    A position of Senior Internal Audit Manager exists in Santam Corporate Services to be based in Sandton, Gauteng.

     

    The purpose of the role of the Senior Audit Manager is to a play a significant role in delivering on the internal audit charter and improving the governance, risk management and control in the Santam Group. The senior manager is responsible to ensure that the Internal Audit activities are executed in accordance with the requirements of any specific acts and regulations applicable to the business or the function itself.

    • Ensure that the Internal Audit function and activities are executed in accordance with the Charter as well as the requirements of any specific acts and regulations applicable to the business or the function itself.

    • Assisting in the establishment and implementation of the overall Santam Group Internal Audit strategy.

    • Evaluates and improves overall audit operations by leveraging technology and other tools.

    • Understands and applies external benchmarks for performance standards.

    • Develop internal standards and frameworks for audit work execution to further supplement current Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) standards as well as regulatory requirements.

    • Providing input into annual planning process to develop a risk-based audit plan

    • Delivery of the annual internal audit annual plan as approved by the Santam

    • Audit engagement management, co-ordination and optimisation of budgeted resources.

    • Team leadership, which includes staff management, performance reviews, training, development and career planning.

    • Stakeholder management (internal and external)

    • Alignment with other assurance providers (e.g. external audit, risk management, compliance, etc.).

    • Regular reporting to the various Audit and Finance and Risk Committees that includes not only significant weaknesses in governance, risk management and internal control, but also administrative matters relating to Internal Audit and its operations.

    Qualification and Experience

    • CA (SA) or CIA

    • B.Com / B.Tech

    • External audit articles

    • Completed articles plus 8-10 years management experience in financial services (preferably General Insurance) or Internal Audit or Risk Management

    • Experience in leading internal and or external audit teams in a dynamic insurance or financial services environment

    • In-depth knowledge of audit methodologies

    • Must be able to travel locally (maximum 40%), willing to travel internationally if required, and work overtime when necessary.

    • Strong leadership capabilities key to optimising the performance of a team and building credibility across the organisation

    • Knowledge of relevant corporate governance and risk management legislation, codes and regulatory requirements that impact the Insurance Industry

    • Expert knowledge of internal audit principles and standards within South Africa and internationally
