    Deputy Director Financial Services

    Job Purpose:

    • To support the Chief Financial Officer by providing strategic, operational, and administrative leadership in the management of the Municipality's financial affairs, ensuring sound financial governance, legislative compliance, effective revenue and expenditure management, the compilation of annual financial statements, the coordination and management of internal and external audit processes, accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and the sustainable utilization of municipal resources to achieve the Municipality's service delivery and developmental objectives.

    Requirements:

    • A relevant 3 year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or B Com with financial accounting as a major subject.
    • Computer literacy: MS Office

    Experience:

    • 8 years or more relevant experience covering all aspects of the relevant financial process and the Management of financial information or having gained specialist experience in a finance discipline.
    • Knowledge and Scope of Work:
    • Provides expert financial advice. Responsible for managing financial information according to prescribed norms and standards;
    • May supervise and manage team responsible for the financial information; and Extensive understanding and knowledge of the application of applicable local government legislation (e.g. MSA, MFMA, and others as applicable.

    Controller :Billing, Rates and Texes

    JOB PURPOSE:

    • To coordinate and control the application of accounting procedures by attending to the verification, reporting, processing and reconciliation of account receivable transactions (Rates) to support analysis, administer rates and taxes in accordance with legislative prescripts; guiding and developing personnel on the processing sequences and communicating information to promote understanding and corporation from consumers on payment for services.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Relevant 3 years tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or B Com with financial Accounting or Financial management as a major subject. Computer literacy: MS Office: MS Excel
    • Driver’s License Code B

    KNOWLEDGE AND SCOPE OF WORK:

Performs complex administrative and supervisory functions requiring specialized knowledge of municipal billing and property rates processes.
    • Operates under limited supervision and exercises discretion in ensuring accurate billing, revenue management, and compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

    Chief Clerk: Rates& Taxes

    JOB PURPOSE:

    • To coordinate and control the application of accounting procedures by attending to the verification, reporting, processing and reconciliation of property rates for the Beaufort West Municipal area to maintain property rates and valuation roll data by updating and adjusting property category and valuation roll data to ensure the correct property rates are levied to owners, verifying property rates transactional data to facilitate the calculations of property rates before the issuing of rates clearance certificates, guiding and developing personnel, attending to more complex enquiries and providing information and/or guidance on procedural requirements to manager, public and personnel and providing general administrative/clerical support to ensure that customer requirements are promptly and professionally attended to in accordance with laid down procedural instruction/guidelines.
