    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    Duties will include maintaining, advising and auditing the Risk, Safety and Environment programs as implemented and managed by the Unit, including:

    Process Optimisation Engineer

    THE JOB AT A GLANCE

    You are responsible for applying technical expertise to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing unit in order to maintain and improve operating efficiencies, reduce cost and improve sustainability. You will assist in the design of processes for new and existing products. You will implement projects to align with engineering strategies, standards and frameworks.     Fitter - JHB

    Summary:

    You will be responsible for maintaining Engineering Equipment to world class standards while providing support to the Maintenance Coordinator. You will support the team in embedding maintenance processes within the organization with the key deliverables of maintaining the Integrity of the Plant. You will maintain, repair, and optimize plant and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product quality at minimum cost.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Operational Support – Provide specialist support to the shift-based teams during operations. Where requested assist as a functional expert in problem solving.
    • Running Repairs – Partake in carrying out repairs on plant equipment
    • Problem Solving – Where problems have occurred during routine activities, apply the correct problem-solving approach to resolve problems.
    • Planned Maintenance – Take part in maintenance planning meetings, contributing suggestions, and clarifying work required.
    • Housekeeping & Safety – Operate in a safe manner at all times, identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected.
    • Always ensure Plant availability of >95%
    • Ensure all compliance standards are met

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Qualified Fitter / relevant Trade Test qualification

    • NTC3, with matric maths and science
    • Knowledge of Maintenance Systems and Engineering standards
      • Knowledge of High-Speed Packaging Machinery
    • Computer literacy (Excel - intermediate, Word and Powerpoint)
    • 5 years relevant experience
    • Industry – FMCG minimum of 3 year experience 
    • Experience in the operation and maintenance of other equipment eg fillers, conveyors, elevators, centrifugal & other pumps, pipelines, water reticulation equipment, etc.
    • Practical knowledge and experience of lathe work (turning) welding (arc, argon, gas, brazing & soldering) and cutting
    • Practical knowledge and experience of a maintenance management system eg Pragma or DMS would be advantageous.

    • Maintain a preventative maintenance system for the Unit
    • Update all schedules on the computerized maintenance system (PRAGMA)
    • Record all maintenance tasks and issue job cards.
    • Order all engineering spares
    • Perform all administrative tasks for the maintenance functions
    • Introduce effective and workable systems and controls to ensure tasks are being performed to maximum efficiency, productivity and security standards
    • Maintain equipment and component ordering on Oracle System
    • Organizing of daily jobs and breakdowns
    • Liaise with suppliers on professional level
    • Assist and give guidance with call-out issues
    • Ensure 100% plant-availability at all times
    • Maintain risk, environmental and food safety programs
    • Maintain 20 Key program.
    • Stores audits.
    • Stores stock control monthly.
    • All engineering reporting.
    • Determine the RCA of sub optimal performance ( failure,mode,effects and critical ability analysis (FMECA) and implement corrective actions.
    • Compliance with statutory and company requirements at all times.
    • Corporate Governance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • N6 Fitter / Electrician or equivalent with PLC experience.
    • B Tech /Diploma in mechanical & electrical engineering.
    • Minimum 3 - 5 years milling environment experience
    • Technical competence in food manufacturing and fundamental  understanding of all equipment and operations
    • Process and equipment knowledge of high speed packing and mill equipment.
    • Computer literate (ICDL preferred)-Pragma ,Oracle
