    Internship: Intake and Registry

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/Matric plus Diploma / NQF level 6 in Business / Public or Municipal Administration. 
    • Only City of Joburg residents will be considered. 

    Primary Function:

    • Provide an efficient Customer service by logging and resolving reported customer or citizen complaints/ queries while meeting or exceeding targets set by the Office of the Ombudsman and the City of Johannesburg. Ensure that all complaints meet the POPIA and Records management standards.  

    Key Learning Areas: 

    • End to end intake process. 
    • Interrogate complains adequately, expertly, and empathetically using all necessary resources available to resolve complaints at first contact. 
    • Log all complaints queries onto the Case Management system according to Office of the Ombudsman set standards; 
    • Take ownership of all complaints logged and manage the residents and / or customer’s expectations, according to the Office of the Ombudsman set standards; 
    • Present all new complaints with clear recommendation to the assessment committee in the weekly assessment meeting.

    Unit Head: Management Regulatory Support

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Matric/Grade 12; 
    • A degree in Business Administration or Public Administration at NQF level 7; 
    • 10 years’ professional experience in management support public policy or corporate strategic planning including at least 5 years management experience within a government or private sector environment experience.  

    Primary Function:

    • Direct and lead the development and implementation of Development department’s strategies and lead the strategic planning process for the Department. Ensure the provision of strategic, analytical and administrative support as well as integrated business solutions to enable the Development Planning Department to effectively and efficiently deliver on the Departmental mandate.  

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Exercise oversight on departmental matters and focus on unit compliance and provide specialist advice to the department. 
    • Plan, organize, coordinate and direct Development Planning department compliance and risk management processes. Ensure the department comply with the city’s performance management system by coordinating the departmental scorecard and ensuring that other employees of the department are performance managed in line with the city’s performance management policy; 
    • Development and timeous reporting of policy and procedure management; 
    • Lead stakeholder management and compliance; 
    • Ensure planning and development analysis; 
    • Manage and coach staff in the Regulation & Management Support Directorate to ensure that all staff meet the department’s objectives in line with broader organizational objectives and requirements; 
    • Manage and monitor assets and resource of the directorate; 
    • Control, consolidate analyse and submit various reliable reports; 
    • Practice good governance and management of risk;

    Talent Acquisition, Remuneration, Performance and Transformation

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • A relevant 3 - years tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or a related field (NQF level 7); 
    • 7 years or more relevant experience in Human Resources Management, with emphasis on Performance Management of which 4 years’ experience at the middle management level; 

    Primary Function:

    • Lead, direct and manage the Performance Management function by formulating and monitoring the implementation of strategic objectives and policies to enable City department to successfully achieve their mandate with performance Management function in COJ and Group context.  

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Ensure that appropriate planning and application of strategies, business plans policies and procedure are developed, approved, communicated to the relevant stakeholders and implemented so that the Department / Group /CoJ strategic imperatives are met; 
    • Implement Performance Management Communication strategies aimed at creating awareness and keeping all stakeholders fully informed; 
    • Lead and direct the Performance management related issues in the City; 
    • Lead and direct staff within the Performance Management section / unit; 
    • Monitor and promote Service Level Agreements (SLA) adherence with service providers, departments. 
    • Manage all aspect the Legislative Framework as well as of the fiancé in control of the are of responsibility including but not limited to expenditure, assets following the Legislative framework as well as with the City’s policies and procedures; 
    • To efficiently manage the operational assets and resources of the function cost following the legislative framework and the City’s policies; 
    • Provide quality reports on the functions and performance in the area of responsibility that are factual, accurate and complete, timely and that contribute to and support the overall reporting requirements of the unit; 
    • Practice good governance and management of risk;
