The incumbent will be responsible for the effective functioning and co- coordination of all Hospital and Consignment stock in the theatre. This will require them to ensure accurate and timeous billing of stock utilized in theatre, replacement of all utilized stock as per pre-determined levels thereby guaranteeing the delivery of an effective, efficient and profitable stock control service. This includes timeous and accurate capturing of all invoices for stock procured for theatre.
Key Performance Areas: (include but are not limited to)
- Participate in Quarterly Hospital Stock Takes, conduct monthly stock counts and inventory control: acquisition & distribution of stock and maintaining efficient stock levels
- Interpret and use the stock reports to optimize stockholding and usage, to identify excess and redundant stock to enable timeous action preventing losses.
- Direct patient billing daily ensuring accuracy and that in addition to surgical/ethical stock, all services, gasses and theatre time are captured timeously to meet Patient Services deadlines.
- Awareness of how the billings process impacts on the total cash flow of the hospital, acting as necessary to assist in achieving these goals
- Effective management of consignment stock & prosthesis – follow up on scheduled stock counts, assist reps with addressing discrepancies and correct record keeping.
- Customer service – working closely with Doctors and Nursing to ensure that stock required for cases are readily available. Out of stock/Backorders are communicated timeously to the relevant individuals and that an alternative is made available where possible.
- Understand the procurement cycle and ensure that appropriate orders are placed by evaluating activity levels.
- Maintain stock levels at agreed value targets
- Ability to identify/pre-empt concerns related to stock, then effectively and timeously ensure resolution.

- Assist with staff shift planning in the ward including Agency staff.
- Complete and update “Monthly Register” for learners
- Ensure all billing is up to date .
- Assist Unit Manager with stock control processes.
- Participate in quality programs in the ward.
Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification
- 2-3 years’ experience in a secretarial position/Hospital experience
- Computer Literacy

Main Focus Areas
- The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies. The incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs.
Key Performance Areas: (include but are not limited to)
- Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities
- Contribute to the holistic care of patients
- Attend handover of report at shift commencement
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care
- Promote patient of health and wellbeing
- Audit of health records to ensure compliance
- Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately
- Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors
Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or equivalent NQF 7 qualification.
- Relevant qualification and experience within that area
- Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
- Advanced Computer Literacy
- Flexible in working hours/Shifts / Rotation to other wards
