    Senior Research Technician:Toxicology(Onderstepoort)

    Description

    • Develop and validate analytical methods, specifically in the fields of GC-MS/MS, HPLC (DAD and FLD) and ICP Plan, execute and supervise routine analytical testing of biological samples.
    • Generation of results using various pre-installed software packages as well as evaluation and interpretation of technical data generated.
    • Troubleshooting of technical problems.
    • Train technicians and visiting scientists.
    • Assist with research projects.
    • Contribute to scientific output (conferences, scientific publications, popular articles).
    • Supervise junior Laboratory personnel.
    • Improving/Implementing ISO 17025 quality requirements within the laboratory.

    Requirements

    • M Tech Degree or equivalent NQF 9 with 2 years applicable experience / Hons Degree or equivalent NQF 8 with 6 years applicable experience / BTech Degree or equivalent NQF 7 / National Diploma or equivalent NQF 6 with 8 years in Analytical Chemistry.
    • Fundamental knowledge of chromatography (LC and GC) as well as Mass Spectroscopy and lCP.
    • Experience in an accredited laboratory will be an advantage.
    • Experience in Toxicology analyses of biological samples will be an advantage.
    • SAVC registration/authorization will be an advantage.
    • Ability to work under pressure to ensure that samples are processed as required.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Excellent knowledge of Quality Management (ISO17025).

    DoA Post Doctoral(Agronomy)

    Description

    • Consistently deliver high quality, relevant research.
    • Contributes to high quality research outputs and achievement of projects milestones.
    • Prepares and coordinates field experiments, including data collection and analysis.
    • Data processing and analysis and literature searching.
    • Contributes to the preparation of written outputs such as papers in refereed journals.
    • Engages with relevant stakeholders within affiliated research projects.
    • Disseminate project results through, scientific or popular publications, conferences and peer reviewed publications.
    • Ensures compliance with SHE/OHS policies and procedures.

    Requirements

    • PhD in Agronomy, Crop science, Plant Production, agrometeorology, plant sciences or related field.
    • Graduated not more than five years ago.
    • Proven track records of research outputs in relevant high impact factor journals.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Excellent English language (Spoken and written).
    • Ability to work independently as well as a team.
    • Have excellent interpersonal skills and good professional conduct.
    • Proactively involved in your own career development.
