    Scale Voider - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir, Reitz

    Job Description

    Responsible for ensuring applicable processes are complied with accurately, concisely, timely and according to standard operating procedures between Palletizing and Warehousing Departments.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
    • Previous experience in a FMCG/ manufacturing environment desirable.
    • Basic computer literacy.
    • A willingness to work shifts and overtime, incl. on Saturdays where required.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Ensuring you have the correct product for verification and verify final product to quantities.

    Dispatch Supervisor - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir

    Job Description

    Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of employees engaged in receiving, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock records in the warehouse.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
    • Certificate in Logistics and Warehousing will be advantageous.
    • At least 3 Years supervisory experience in a chicken abattoir/ FMCG.
    • IR & People Management Experience.
    • Valid Forklift driver license.
    • A willingness to work overtime, shifts and weekends when required. 

    Duties and Responsibility.

    • Ensure products moved from the receiving bay to the warehouse and from the warehouse to dispatch are in accordance with company procedures.
    • Supervise the storage of products in bins/cases/ pallets/ in the warehouse, ensuring company standards are maintained.
    • Monitor the storage of products to ensure maximum use of space is achieved.
    • Endure daily checks are conducted on freight handling equipment as per the SOP's.
    • Monitor the slow-moving items/ expiry date of items and escalate potential problem areas to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager.
    • Check the allocation of pallet/ bin numbers etc. to ensure records are always maintained.
    • Ensure that the required pre-shift checks are conducted on freight handling equipment in the warehouse.
    • Monitor stock levels and escalate stock requirements to Warehouse & Distribution Manager.
    • Ensure that stock counts are completed, variance analyses done, and variances identified and rectified on the system.
    • Conduct spot checks on loads picked and loaded to ensure accuracy and quality.
    • Monitor stock levels in the pick face and arrange replenishment when needed.
    • Monitor performance of team members to ensure efficiencies are achieved.
    • Take corrective action in the form of counselling and/or coaching when performance and behaviour is not in accordance with the required targets and code of conduct.
    • Monitor timekeeping and absenteeism.
    • Monitor appearance of employees and their use of PPE.
    • Report on usage statistics to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager so that remedial action can be taken in the event of either under or over usage
    • Ensure that all SHEQ requirements are adhered to at all times and take the necessary corrective action when needed.
    • Conduct toolbox talks with employees daily.
    • Ensure that employees have attended the relevant dangerous goods training, when required.
    • Supervise employees to prevent damage or cross- contamination of products in line with the relevant quality policies and procedures.
    • Monitor employees using loading equipment to ensure adherence to safety standards at all times.
    • Take the necessary precautions to control and safeguard company assets.
    • Schedule employees on the relevant Health and Safety training to ensure legislative standards are maintained.
    • Ensure housekeeping is completed on an ongoing basis so that the warehouse is kept clean.

    Job Description

    Provide hands-on expertise and leadership by managing a team of employees in own department, thereby ensuring the achievement of budgeted targets, adherence to all compliance requirements, sound relationships with all stakeholders and overall growth and sustainability of customer accounts.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • A Production-related Qualification preferred.
    • PME or PMI Certificate required.
    • Min 3 Years’ Supervisory experience in Production.
    • Processing plant experience within a poultry abattoir environment.
    • Knowledge of Food Safety Standards required.
    • A willingness to work overtime, shifts and weekends when required. 

    Duties and Responsibility.

    • Management of the day-to-day activities and out puts of the team in department.

    To ensure all mechanical engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with Grain Field Chickens’ established policies and objectives. Plans and directs all aspects of mechanical engineering activities within the organization including, but not limited to managing and ensuring the scheduling, installation, repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment and instrumentation. 

    Requirements

    Poultry Veterinarian - Grain Field Chicken Abatoir

    Job Description

    The Veterinarian is responsible for providing veterinary services to both contract growers and related departments of Grain Field Chickens. This include conducting clinical assessments and disease investigations, implementing preventive medicine practices and early disease diagnosis and treatment, monitoring and enforcing animal welfare standards, enforcing various legislative acts, regulations and inspection services of provincial and national government for the treatment, prevention, control and eradication of poultry diseases as well as investigating food safety issues and diseases.

    Requirements

    • BVSc degree from a reputable institution.
    • Qualified Veterinarian registered with SAVC.
    • Some experience as a registered veterinarian will be an advantage.
    • Previous poultry industry experience will be a definite advantage.
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office Package skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Willingness to work emergencies or extra hours when needed.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Performs routine flock checks by visiting contract grower farms and conducting examination/ clinical assessments on a regular basis.
    • Performs autopsies and collects laboratory samples, evaluates chicken house management and animal welfare.
    • Assess computer production data, records detailed clinical, environmental finding and animal husbandry data, summarize findings, prepare reports and discusses with Operations Manager.
    • Investigates disease outbreaks and significant drops in production, makes diagnosis, initiates a course of treatment or arranges for eradication and repopulation of a flock, if necessary.
    • Is available on a 24-hour emergency basis to contract growers and abattoir.
    • Develops and modifies Preventive Medicine/ Flock Health Programs including developing and following Biosecurity protocols to prevent disease transmission.
    • Interprets laboratory reports, makes diagnosis and reports findings to stakeholders.
    • Maintains records and files, completes forms and prescriptions and compiles regular reports.
    • Issues prescriptions, instructs contract growers on proper dosage, mixing directions, method and rate of delivery.
    • Participates in front-line monitoring of legislated animal diseases which could have significance for animal health, public health and the business.
    • Regularly monitors related business areas/ contract grower farms for specific diseases.
    • Provides training to staff, contract growers and employees as well as external/ internal students.
    • Responds to product problems/ irregularities at processing plant, participates in Emergency Management Team activities as well as regular Management meetings at both Farms and Abattoir Level.
    • Establish or carry out quarantine or testing procedures that combat the spread of diseases to humans or to other animals according to established government regulations.
    • Liaise with various industry bodies and government institutions as well as participate in related industry forums and associations.
    • Any other duties as may be required by management.
