Job Purpose
- To provide a secretarial and administrative support service to the Departmental/Programme Team in the implementation of policies, procedures and systems designed to ensure excellent customer service in alignment with the objectives of the Department and the Durban University of Technology.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in office management or relevant qualification
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a general secretarial capacity
- 1 year in a tertiary environment
Additional Recommendations:
- Computer proficiency in MS Office
- Communication skills - verbal/written
- Excellent typing skills
- Proficiency In English - verbal/written
- Sound knowledge of relevant Departmental/Programme administrative systems
Summary of Duties:
- Efficiently manages telephonic/counter enquiries on courses, student progress, and parent/employer requests. etc.
- Provides high quality secretarial and administrative services to HOD and staff members.
- Responds efficiently and promptly to all queries/requests for delivery, whether written, verbal or telephonic.
- As the frontline representative of the department/programme, promotes the image of the department/programme by ensuring all tasks are efficiently and courteously attended to at all times.
- Maintains sound relationships with staff, colleagues and students and contributes to team effort e.g. inducts new staff members into the administrative routines and procedures of the department/programme.
- Ensures personal and professional self-development
- Captures data efficiently as required, to ensure the smooth functioning of general administrative aspects of the department/programme. e.g. data relating to the
- Departmental/Programme budget; staff timetables; examiners/moderators; minutes of meetings
- Provides information as directed by the HOD. e.g. relating to, e.g.: Student records, departmental/programme budget

Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Information and Communications Technology (Information Systems and or Networking)

Minimum Requirements:
Senior Lecturer
- A relevant Doctoral Degree (Specialising in Information Systems and or Networking)
- At least 5 years of university teaching experience
- Ability to lecture Information Systems and related fields.
- Evidence of research scholarship appropriate for this level as evidenced by publications in ISI/DHET or SAPSE-related journals will be advantageous
- Supervision of Masters/Doctoral students

Lecturer
- A relevant Doctoral Degree or a Master’s Degree.
- At least 3 years of university teaching experience
- Ability to lecture Information Systems and related fields.
