    Senior Risk Consultant

    Aon South Africa is recruiting a Senior Risk Consultant in our Risk Consulting division in Cape Town. The role of a Senior Risk Consultant is to support the underwriting process through identification of client risks. He/she will provide risk analysis to assist in the correct pricing of risk, while providing high quality risk management and assisting in the development and support of new or existing risk control programmes.  He/she will also develop custom solutions and advise clients on best practices in risk mitigation and safety management strategies.

    As a Senior Risk Consultant some of your responsibilities will include:

    • Performing loss control surveys of property and casualty exposures.
    • Risk Control Organisation - Assisting with the development and structure of a risk control strategy and organisation together with policies, procedures and practises
    • Asset Protection – Fire and Perils: evaluating and assessing material damage and Business Intelligence risks and loss potentials for both general and highly protected risks, giving advice on protective/preventive measures and damage limitation controls
    • Asset Protection - Security: general and specific reviewing of security exposures, giving advice on the implementation of standards and procedures for protecting people, property and information as well as physical and electronic resources
    • Health and Safety - management system audits, general and specific risk assessments, policy development, design and implementation of appropriate safety standards and procedures, specialist advice on legal requirements and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Engineering - evaluating mechanical and electrical installations and systems. Identifying critical equipment, protections and preventive maintenance programmes, building structure reviews and monitoring of infrared and earthing surveys.
    • Fire Engineering - all aspects of fire engineering from design, monitoring tender submissions to approving drawings and commissioning of fire protection and detection systems.
    • Emergency Planning Procedures: Identifying vital services and vulnerable areas and potentially hazardous goods/materials. Reviewing existing plans and assisting with the implementation of the full spectrum of emergencies, which may arise, taking various threats in to consideration.
    • Business Continuity Planning - project initiation, risk and business impact analysis, strategy development, liaison with other parties, detailed planning advice on plan preparation and contents. Staff training, plan testing and maintenance.
    • Motor Fleet - management system audits, general risk assessments, policy development, design and implementation of appropriate operating standards and procedures.
    • Information Technology - assessments of hardware and software fire and security protection standards, data and access control procedures and disaster recovery planning.
    • Training - providers of safety and fire defence training. Specific training on all aspects of risk management including self-audits.
    • Insurance Reports - all types of insurer related reports, EML/MPLs, Post Loss surveys, Engineering Breakdown surveys.
    • Infrared Thermographic Surveys – coordinate with relevant specialists
    • Additional Services: coordinating our outsourced specialist consultants who provide audits on liability, environmental issues and compliance, IT systems and structures

    Role-specific Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    • Be in a position of a grade 12 (matric)
    • Be in a possession of a BSc Degree in Engineering or any similar qualification.
    • A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management will be an advantage
    • Have a minimum of 2 – 6 years related experience 
    • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of risk management and loss control technical disciplines and should have, or be willing to obtain, professional designations.
    • Individual with knowledge of the principles and practices within a technical/ professional discipline.Possesses advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.

    Company Secretary Specialist

    Aon South Africa is recruiting a Company Secretary Specialist in our Legal & compliance division at our offices in Sandton. The role of a Company Secretary Specialist is to assist the Company Secretary by performing administrative statutory support services and related functions within the Aon Group.

    This position complies with the Company’s Employment Equity Policies.

    As a Company Secretary Specialist some of your responsibilities will include:

    • Prepare and update annual corporate calendar
    • Manage, disseminate and arrange the Board and Executive meeting invitations in accordance with the corporate calendar.
    • Issue notices of board meetings.
    • Formulate, collate, prepare and distribute Board and other packs.
    • Attend and take minutes at the Board meetings for Aon SA and all subsidiaries, Aon Re Africa, Exco and related committee meetings (e.g. Social and Ethics Committee) as required by the Companies Act as well as other business meetings as required.
    • Maintain minute books. 
    • Compile the Directors’ and Shareholder’ resolutions, special resolutions and round robin resolutions to approve transactions and to give authority to individuals to act on behalf of the company, subsidiaries and associate companies. 
    • Update and maintain statutory registers required by the Companies Act. 
    • Prepare, sign off and submit all statutory forms; i.e. appointment and resignation of directors, changes to auditors, financial year ends etc. 
    • Communicate statutory changes to the outsourced Company Secretarial Firm to lodge with CIPC. 
    • Ensure the required documentation is lodged with the Registrar of Companies and SARS via outsourced Company Secretarial Firm. 
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors in terms of statutory documents for audits performed. 
    • Ensure CIPC have adequate funds to lodge annual returns and other incidents at all times. 
    • Utilise the CIPC program to obtain disclosures on companies for example CIPC balances, director disclosures etc. 
    • Act on reminders from outsourced Company Secretarial Firm in terms of submission of annual return dates and arranging payment due to CIPC as instructed.
    • Ensure that the Annual Financial Statements are submitted for simultaneous submission to CIPC with annual returns. 
    • Update all business letters, notices and other official publication to display registered company details as required by the statutes in South Africa. 
    • Maintain records of group structures and ensure procedures are in place for accurate administration of these entities. 
    • Assist with preparation of all records relevant to the maintenance and good standing of companies incorporated in South Africa and other jurisdictions as well as trusts. 
    • Provide assistance to Legal & Compliance Team and Business in all aspects of Corporate Secretariat related functions. 
    • Manage and support projects which form part of CoSec functions and tasks as assigned. 
    • Liaise monthly with compliance in terms of FSCA requirements on statutory updates relating to FAIS. 
    • Provide the Business with Corporate Governance related matters pertaining to tenders, vendor/supplier applications, FICA/KYC requests etc. 
    • Understand and follow the Aon Leadership Model and take ownership of personal development. 
    • Maintain personal and professional development.

    Role-specific Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    • Have knowledge of CIPC company registration, annual returns etc.
    • Be in possession of Grade 12 (Matric).
    • Be in possession of Secretarial Diploma.
    • BCom, LLB or BProc and CIS qualification will be an added advantage.
    • Have a minimum of 5 years Company Secretarial and Governance experience.
    • Have legal/CoSec and compliance experience in respect of Short Term Insurance products.
