    BI Analyst

    As BI Analyst you will be involved in building new reports, deriving data extract for operational and analytical needs and engage with both internal and external stakeholders on their data and reporting requirements.  You are inquisitive self-starter with the ability to learn and navigate through data and gain a good understanding of how disparate data fits together.  You will report to the Data Modelling and Reporting Analyst.

    You will

    • Interact with business users at all levels to understand their needs and to design and build reporting solutions that can scale and create efficiency within the organization
    • Be responsible for creating robust reporting data models used to effectively manage the technical delivery of business needs
    • Perform quality assurance on new and existing data sets and pipelines to discover inconsistencies and/or anomalies to guide problem resolution and data cleansing exercises
    • Play a key role in the design and delivery of reporting solutions for both internal and external consumption including various regulatory bodies

    You will need

    • 3+ years’ experience with data analysis and/or BI experience, with some time spent within a formal BI environment (Kimball Methodology)
    • University degree in Finance or Business or Informatics or equivalent industry training and experience.
    • Proven ability in analytics, business acumen and presenting / communicating / visualization across all organization levels
    • Real-world understanding of data processing and storage
    • RDBMS experience in any relevant technology such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift and SQL Server
    • Experience creating stored procedures or advance query writing
    • Intermediate – Advanced Excel skills
    • Understanding of IT Governance, Project Management methodologies and QA standards
    • Experience with reporting and business intelligence software such as Tableau, Power BI, Grafana, Superset
    • Critical thinking under pressure & good time management skills
    • Ability to work as an individual as well as in a team environment

    Corporate Finance Analyst

    As Corporate Finance Analyst you will be accountable for supporting the business with execution of financing transactions relating to debt and equity capital, optimising capital mix, market research and stakeholder management. Central to this will be tasks involving financial modelling, corporate finance analysis, ensuring consistency and accuracy in reporting and preparing internal and external pitch documentation. You will report to the Head of Corporate Finance. 

    You will

    • Provide corporate finance and capital raising transaction support (analysis, investor presentations, due diligence, documentation, project management)
    • Prepare presentation materials, reporting and analysis for Board, Exco and investors
    • Design, build and maintain financial models
    • Prepare and ensure the timely submission of accurate reports and ad hoc financial analysis

    You will need

    • B.Com (Acct) / B.Bus(Sci) / Ac. Sci / B.Eng
    • Corporate finance experience (investment banking, fixed income, capital markets, asset management, chartered accountant, management consultant, treasury)
    • Financial modelling of corporate finance transactions, financial statements and projections (loan portfolio modelling and ABS/securitisation experience is a plus)
    • Working with data across a range of tools (Excel/VBA, SQL, Tableau, Powerpivot)
    • Commercial acumen and ability to think and work in a strategic, accurate and professional manner with high attention to detail
    • High performing and focused and self-starter with ability to work to tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritise in an often uncertain and intensive environment

    Data Engineer

    As a JUMO Data Engineer, you’ll help contribute to our mission of financial inclusion by extracting maximum predictive value from data assets. This position will report to the Data Engineering Team Lead.

    You will

    • Design, implement, and maintain the data pipelines that constitute JUMO's data platform, enabling effective use of data across the organisation
    • Providing feedback on team members' output, encouraging skills development within the team
    • Be responsible for creating robust, mission critical batch and streaming data processing capabilities
    • Work closely with Portfolio Managers and Data Scientists to understand the real-world problems we’re trying to solve

    You will need

    • BSc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary degree

    • 2+ years experience with Data pipeline design and development experience

    Decision Sciencist

    As a Decision Scientist, you will be accountable for providing solutions to business questions using your exceptional statistical modelling skills and ability to transform data into valuable decisioning tools.  You will report to the Decision Science Team Lead.

    You will

    • Use alternative data to develop various fit-for-purpose predictive models (e.g. repayment behaviour, affordability)
    • Execute and maintain existing models and analyse our markets to determine the most effective way to increase financial inclusion whilst minimising our credit risk exposure. 
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders in matters relating to modelling, e.g.:
    • Implementation of new models, with special focus on how it translates to business decisions

    Model auditing

    • Data related issues and their effect on models
    • Critically analyse data received from various sources: 
    • Perform tests, quality control and due diligence as well as engaging with various teams to present findings and actionable insights. 
    • Develop new and improve existing modelling tools 
    • Use an agile approach to determine the best use of data to develop predictive models and perform analysis in line with business requirements (e.g. credit scoring; customer acquisition; segmentation; social network analysis; etc.)
    • Develop data processes to mine value from a variety of data sources that include high-volume, transactional-level data.
    • Provide analytical support to various other business teams
    • Perform credit scoring for various business teams
    • Collaborate with system developers, data engineers, and data architects where necessary to facilitate data analysis and credit scoring.

    You will need

    • At least 5 years’ experience in a credit risk modelling role.
    • At least 2 years’ experience with Telco (e.g. GSM, IEMI, Wallet, etc.) data, preferably with a focus on the credit life cycle.
    • Knowledge of programming tools enabling types of analysis/modelling described below
    • A postgraduate degree, Honours, Masters or Phd degree in Mathematics, Statistics or similar. Background in Finance, Economics or similar.
    • Proven experience with statistical modeling: supervised learning (e.g. deep learning, decision trees, random forests, SVM, logistic regression, etc.); unsupervised learning (e.g. clustering, PCA, k-means, dimension reduction);
    • Programming and Database: computer science fundamentals, scripting language, e.g. Python; Stats languages and/or packages, e.g., R, SAS; relational databases: SQL and NoSQL, Oracle;
    • Communication and Visualization: Ability to relay complex concepts; storytelling skills; translate data-driven insights into decisions and actions; Python and R visualization packages; knowledge of other visualisation tools, e.g. Tableau is advantageous.
    • Domain knowledge and soft skills: Passionate about the business; curious about data; influence without authority; problem solver; strategic, proactive, creative, innovative and collaborative
    • A mixture of multidisciplinary skills ranging from an intersection of computer science, mathematics, statistics, communication and business.
    • The ability to work independently.

    Legal Counsel / South Africa

    As Legal Counsel you will be accountable for providing commercial, contractual and legal support & direction to negotiate and deliver profitable & commercially effective contracts with the company's customers, partners, distributors and key suppliers. You will report to the Associate General Counsel.   

    You will 

    • Provide in-house assistance to Mobile Network Operator (MNO) and Financial Institution (FI) teams.
    • Provide general legal assistance and support to management.
    • Review, analyze and draft legal agreements as appropriate (MNO agreements, FI agreements, loan agreements, MOUs, NDAs, shareholder documents, employment agreements etc.) 
    • Advise and negotiate legal agreements with counterparties.
    • Developing master internal agreements as required (MNO / FI / alternative funding structures).
    • Deal with external counsel on ad hoc basis.
    • Provide support to the company's business by providing local advice in respect of global deals, strategy and product and proposition rollouts. 
    • Anticipate legal developments relevant to the business and provide advice on their impact.

    You will need

    • LLB degree.
    • At least 5 – 7 years’ experience, ideally with experience from a reputable law firm or strong in-house environment.
    • Demonstrable experience in operating in a cross-border environment.
    • Commercially minded, driven and able to advise on a broad range of legal matters and drive the business forward.
    • Strong drafting skills. Outsourcing to external counsel is the exception to the rule, as we prefer a hands-on approach.
    • Strong attention to detail and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
    • Strong, resilient, independent work ethic in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Communication and relationship management: Establish strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders to manage administrative processes.

    ERM Manager // SA

    As ERM Manager // SA you will be accountable for fulfilling & implementing the end to end  Enterprise Risk Management function for the business. You will report to the Deputy CFO.   

    You will 

    • Review and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework policies and procedures (including risk tolerance levels, appetite, and key risk indicators) as a guide for current and future business needs. 
    • Ensure the elements of the ERM Framework are embedded and operating effectively across the business.  
    • Proactively investigate, collate, and analyse risk incidents / risk events perform trend and root cause analysis, including mitigating actions. 
    • Support the first line (including IT) in the identification, assessment, and measurement of risks, at the strategic and operational levels utilising appropriate tools and techniques. 
    • Facilitating the compilation of strategic and operational risk registers across the business and ensuring that adequate management plans are developed to mitigate these risks. 
    • Refine and adapt risk reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee and Board in line with industry best practices and business requirements.

    You will need

    • Relevant Degree in Risk Management / Internal Auditing / similar
    • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working in risk management (including IT) in the Financial services / Fintech industry. 
    • Proactive and be able to work with minimal supervision.

    • Operational risk frameworks and tools
    • ISO 31000 and COSO’s ERM Framework
    • Corporate governance
