    Service Technician

    Responsibilities

    • Closely adhere to all safety standards and procedures. 
    • Act as a safety role model, encourage and recognize others completing safe acts, and intervene when unsafe acts are being practiced. Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the operational environment, implement effective risk mitigation, and provide recommendations to higher-level technical staff and management
    • Demonstrate and promote integrity, significant initiative, a no-compromise focus on safety, and quality of work on a continuous basis and may assist with or perform basic quality audits of less experienced staff
    • Perform intermediate level wind turbine maintenance,  installation tasks as assigned, such as proficient operation and use of tools (including but not limited to specialized calibration, hydraulic, power tools) and basic turbine equipment. Document tasks where required and enters data into company system (e.g. SAP)
    • Effectively gather information regarding turbine performance / issues. May diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions up to intermediate routine issues. Seek assistance when encountering turbine issues outside trained skill level to ensure success in resolution
    • Follow basic structured problem-solving process to complete troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks to include the use of diagnostic tools (e.g. basic fluke meter functions, hydraulic pressure gauge) and with limited supervision initiate and perform most work tasks, as well as follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, carrying out plans as directed, and perform according to written and verbal instruction from higher-level technical staff
    • Effectively promote solid team environment by assisting teammates in accomplishing goals and mentoring lower level technical staff. Visibly support and promote change initiatives and team spirit and collaboration as well as effectively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures and communicate through appropriate channels or implement improvements using the appropriate control management protocol
    • Interface with customer and may respond to customer inquiries. Refer complex customer inquiries to higher-level technical staff or manager. Demonstrate solid customer focus at all times

    Qualifications

    • Tertiary diploma or equivalent and a minimum one (1) year technical wind industry experience, OR six (6) months technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a Wind Technician program, OR in absence of technical wind industry experience, minimum three (3) years' experience working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical skills or composite skills
    • Trade tested - Mechanical or electrical
    • Demonstrated use and understanding of intermediate level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque and diagnostic tools (e.g. fluke meter functions and hydraulic manometer )
    • Ability to demonstrate an intermediate working knowledge of industrial safety practices / protocols (e.g. Confined Space, energy isolation)
    • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Passport
    • Good attention to detail and execution quality and good interpersonal and customer relation skills as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with employees at all professional levels and ability to respectfully follow supervision and support initiatives
    • Basic computer operation skills, familiarity with internet-based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data and ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to validate work activity and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated

    Competencies

    • Ability to constantly climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height, in order to access work area as well as the ability to frequently lift, pull, and carry items up to 30 Kg in weight
    • Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend and the ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts
    • Comfort constantly working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters
    • Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write in English as well as the ability to effectively participate in all training courses, including controlled decent
    • Ability to hear and see, including the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colours, sufficient to perform job functions and use close range radios and also able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
    • Comfort working remotely in a Turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction
    • Ability to work in a respirator, including passing a respirator medical evaluation and physically able to testonstantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts

    Bid Specialist

    Bid Management is, within Construction Department, responsible to ensure effective construction bids in alignment with customers' expectations/tenders specifications.

    Reporting to the Regional Bid Manager, the Bid Specialist is an integral part of the Bid Management team that will work in collaboration with Construction team and Vestas functions to ensure alignment between the bids/tenders, the clients' expectations and Vestas targets for all projects/contracts performed in South Africa and in the overall region.

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out Construction bid response and take lead on construction scope in contract negotiation;
    • Assess construction scope and prepare tactical plan through internal project management in Operations with relevant functional areas for proposal engage with customers to optimize construction proposal and provide clarification;
    • Budgeting and planning projects in collaboration with Construction sub departments (Project Management, Planning, Installation, BOP) and with other Vestas functions (Sales, Procurement, Transport, Technology...) ensuring industry standard cost alignment within the project strategy and business constraints;
    • Ensure approved construction budget (OPEC) and project programme to be included with proposal;
    • Maintain overview of major construction risks during sales phase. Implement lessons learned from previous projects;
    • Reporting, analysis and evaluation of post & precalc results to optimize cost and profitability of Vestas projects; 
    • Contract Execution Package (CEP) approval in collaboration with Sales Management and supporting the Regional Head of Construction within the CEP approval process; 
    • Support business improvement initiatives to ensure high quality & value added solutions
    • Development, participation in the development of new construction processes: boosting plans, platform creation etc...in order to find adequate opportunities for Vestas and Vestas' customers.

    Qualifications

    • Technical degree in Engineering, construction, logistics or similar
    • Relevant Project Management related certification (PMP or other similar).
    • Minimum 3 to 5 year experience in Project Management in the energy sector, renewables preferred.
    • Commercial understanding and experience in working with bids and negotiations 
    • Fluent in English and second European language will be ranked (French, Portuguese, Spanish).
    • MS Excel, DDBB, Power BI computer skills

    Stock Keeper

    Responsibilites

    • Maintain proper stock controls by performing manual and clerical tasks involved in receiving, preparation. and stocking, issuing, shipping, physical inventory, disposition, control and protection of company property. 
    • Support and suggest any remedial action required to prevent or resolve discrepancies. 
    • Operate electric powered and manual lift trucks. 
    • Perform tasks involved in controlling (maintaining, updating, sorting, filing, recording and issuing) various SAP or company documents.
    • Support at the other Warehouses with same tasks where needed in South Africa

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of experience in general warehousing / distribution centers / or production environments. 
    • Working knowledge of stock control, inventory management practices and procedures. 
    • SAP or other Warehouse Management Systems experience.
    • Good level of written and spoken English
    • Able to follow established written and verbal instructions. 
    • Ability to follow company safety policies and procedures. 
    • Demonstrated computer literacy.
    • Able to operate or learn to operate forklift. Relevant Certifications are preferred but not required.

    Competencies

    • Able to climb stairs or ladders, Requires full/part time standing, Able to Lift/push/pull/carry weight according to Manual Handling Guidelines and recommended safety weight limits
    • Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use inspection tools and perform torqueing operations.
    • High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Eye protection required in many instances. 
    • Environmental:Capable of using personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required.
    • The primary work location will be Karusa & Soetwater Windfarm, Laingsburg, Western Cape.
    • Travel within South Africa is required 20% of the time.
