    Project Engineer - Bulk Material Handling

    JOB TITLE: Project Engineer - Bulk Material Handling, Cape Town, South Africa

    • We are looking for a Project Engineer - Bulk Material Handling to spearhead the creation and refinement of technical data, engineering designs, and specifications for bulk material handling infrastructure throughout South Africa’s port network.
    • This pivotal role ensures that engineering outputs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable standards across all stages of project execution—from initial concept and design through to procurement, construction, and final commissioning.
    • The Project Engineer will be instrumental in embedding technical excellence throughout the entire project lifecycle.
    • As a Project Engineer, you will take the lead in developing and optimizing technical documentation, engineering drawings, and design specifications for bulk material handling systems. Your expertise will be vital in driving engineering quality across refurbishment, upgrade, and retrofit initiatives within South African port facilities.
    • In this position, you will report to the Engineering Manager       
    • This position is mainly located in Cape Town, South Africa.

    TEAM YOU BELONG TO

    • You will join the Invoicing Team and work closely with internal /external stakeholders, such as Management, Suppliers, Sub-Contractors, Clients, Supply and the Sales Team.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform and review calculations to ensure safe function of equipment for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit
    • Prepare and review project and product engineering design drawings and documents
    • Complete process and mechanical engineering design calculations
    • Prepare and review engineering specifications and data sheets
    • Develop and review quality plans and equipment Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
    • Create and validate functional design specification packages
    • Prepare and review technical installation, operation, and maintenance manuals
    • Draft and assess commissioning and start-up procedures
    • Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure technical compliance of purchased equipment
    • Support project scheduling and cost estimation with accurate engineering inputs
    • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability assessments
    • Ensure compliance with relevant international and local engineering codes and standards
    • Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases
    • Collaborate with QA/QC, HSE, and project management teams to ensure integrated project delivery
    • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Maintain accurate and organized engineering documentation and revision control

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Hold a Technical Degree or higher in Engineering
    • Possess 6–8 years of experience in engineering roles, preferably within bulk material handling or industrial infrastructure
    • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software
    • Familiar with SAP and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts
    • Strong understanding of Engineering Data Management (EDM) systems
    • Knowledgeable in relevant international codes and standards
    • Capable of organizing and planning your own work with limited supervision

    Project Manager - Bulk Material Handling

    JOB TITLE: Project Manager - Bulk Material Handling, Cape Town, South Africa 

    • We are seeking a Project Manager - Bulk Material Handling to join our Bulk Materials Handling Projects Team. This role is responsible for directly managing Class 1, 2, and 3 GBP Engineered to Order (E type) projects, covering a range of small to very large Refurbishment, Upgrades and Replacement projects.
    • The Project Manager will oversee all phases from order intake to final delivery, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, and quality targets are met.
    • The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Field Services, while engaging with customers and internal stakeholders to drive project success. A key focus of the role is to promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
    • In this position, you will report to the Project & Proposals Manager
    • This position is mainly based in Cape Town, Gauteng

    TEAM YOU BELONG TO

    • You will join the Capital Projects Team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Management, Sales Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Field Services, Clients, Suppliers, Sub-Contractors, and Site Staff.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Lead the execution of Class I, II, and complex Class III (POC) Engineered-to-Order (ETO) projects, including internal initiatives such as standard part warranty cases and critical shutdown or breakdown projects.
    • Ensure successful project delivery by meeting customer expectations and contractual commitments across safety, quality, schedule, and budget targets.
    • Apply and uphold Metso’s established processes, tools, and policies throughout all phases of project execution.
    • Implement and maintain rigorous scope change management practices to ensure controlled and transparent project delivery.
    • Provide expert financial forecasting and oversight, including managing STECO activities for Class II projects.
    • Oversee comprehensive project coordination, including issue resolution, progress tracking, and budget and schedule control.
    • Support Market Area handover processes, warranty resolution, and installed base activities following project completion.
    • Mentor and guide PM I, II, and III colleagues, actively contributing to team development and process improvement initiatives.
    • Serve as a Key User for the PCM process in SAP, ensuring system integrity and process alignment.
    • Drive risk management practices by identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks throughout the lifecycle.
    • Lead project review meetings and reporting, ensuring transparency and alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams during the proposal and handover phases to ensure smooth project initiation.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and contributing to the development of best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards during project execution.
    • Represent the company in customer meetings, site visits, and project reviews, acting as the primary point of contact for project-related matters.

    WHO YOU ARE

    • Technical Degree or relevant prior experience essential​
    • Able to read and understand drawings, manufacturing processes, and engineered assemblies​
    • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated project management experience and ability​
    • Expert knowledge and experience of GBP product portfolio.​

    Office Administrator - Bulk Material Handling

    JOB TITLE: OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR - BULK MATERIAL HANDLING, CAPE TOWN

    • We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Office Administrator to become an integral part of our Cape Town team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our daily operations - ensuring the smooth running of the office through a wide range of administrative responsibilities.
    • From managing reception duties and coordinating office activities to supporting the overall efficiency of our workplace, you’ll play a key role in creating a professional and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors.
    • In this position, you will report to the Director - Bulk Material Handling.
    • This position is located in Cape Town

    TEAM YOU BELONG TO

    • You will join the Bulk Material Handling team that strives to effectively deliver a seamless experience, which delivers a “technical solution” that meets the customers' needs. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Metso colleagues, Metso visitors and Metso management.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    You are responsible for the following per your allocated area of responsibility:

    • Answering of Switchboard - Answering of all calls and assisting callers
    • Welcoming and assisting visitors - Visitors register to be completed and visitor access tag to be issued
    • Stationery Orders - Ordering and issuing of all office stationery
    • Grocery Orders - Ordering and issuing of all office groceries monthly
    • DHL Courier Services - Assisting staff with arranging for packages to be sent via DHL
    • Receiving of packages at Reception for staff - Staff are required to collect their own packages from reception if they are at the office. In the event that the employee is not at the office the Receptionist can sign for the package and the employee can collect from them. The employee must sign the register to confirm receipt
    • Functions/Meetings - Booking of Boardrooms, arranging meals and drinks for functions/meetings held at the office upon request
    • Office Administration - Coordination with Cleaners to ensure all cleaning is done daily and assistance with managing staff. Ensuring that all office-related invoices are received, checked, processed and sent for payment monthly.
    • Assisting with office related HSE matters. Manage and coordinate all office related issues and maintenance requests.
    • Liaising with suppliers to ensure office related services are rendered as and when scheduled. Office Inspections to be done monthly.
    • Other ad-hoc tasks as and when required

    WHO YOU ARE

    • Must have Matric (Grade 12)
    • Must have 3-5 Administrative Experience
    • Proficiency with Computers and Office Equipment
