    Impact Manager - Africa Career Networks

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    • At ALA, we believe in embedding data into the way that we work across all parts of the organization, not in creating separate institutional learning/impact measurement silos. ALA believes that all employees of the organization should own and lead the measurement of our work activities towards the organization’s mission and vision.
    • Therefore, the Institutional Learning (IL) department works closely with program teams to steward ALA’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) activities across all divisions. This work includes:
    • the systemic collection, storage, and observation of program data, supporting program teams to improve their data literacy and behaviours,
    • evaluating ALA's Progress against its Mission and building a common M&E understanding and practice, and
    • sharing evidence-based learning internally to inform and strengthen our program delivery, and externally to advance ALA's contribution towards transforming the African continent.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Data collection and monitoring

    • Support the development of robust MERL frameworks, appropriate indicators, and utilize tools like the Logical Framework Approach (LFA).
    • Design and administer data collection tools aligned with MERL frameworks across a range of grants, ensuring alignment across all the networks.
    • Contribute to strategic planning, implementation, and redesign of high-quality data systems to capture, audit, analyse, and retrieve critical organizational performance and program impact metrics.
    • Manage data visualization platforms to ensure that program teams can monitor their progress against results and articulate progress against ALA’s strategic priorities.
    • Support and manage the routine collection, audit, and analysis of program impact metrics.

    Analysis and evaluation

    • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data and communicate verbal, visual, and written insights, learnings, and recommendations to internal and external audiences.
    • Support evaluations by external experts such that they support our internal learning agenda and program strengthening.
    • Engage with program teams as a thought partner to enable strategic and operational decision-making that is grounded in empirical program data and internal and external learnings.

    Reporting

    • Produce periodic reports and/or dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Support donor proposal development and donor reporting processes and requirements.
    • Communicate donor requirements and ensure compliance in the programmes you support.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

    Required Education and Experience: 

    • A post-graduate degree in any of the following fields: Development, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, or Statistics with a research component.
    • Qualification in monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.
    • 5 years of general work experience or at least 2-3 years’ experience in MERL.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Monitoring and Evaluation specialist with a good understanding of the monitoring and evaluation methodologies for development programmes.
    • Proficiency in using data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Tableau, Power BI) to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.

    Data (Salesforce) Associate

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    • The Data Associate role is an entry-level position within the Institutional Learning department at the African Leadership Academy. The role primarily involves managing Salesforce user setups, maintaining data integrity, and supporting internal operations through data management.
    • Key responsibilities include updating and validating records, building dashboards, transferring data between systems, and monitoring data quality.
    • The position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to follow established procedures diligently. This role will work closely with the Data Systems Manager and provide administrative support to the Institutional Learning team.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Salesforce Administration:

    • Manage user setup, field configurations, permission sets, and record types.
    • Maintain reports, dashboards, and system flows.
    • Support campaign execution and list uploads.
    • Monitor data quality and run bulk updates as needed.
    • Act as the first point of contact for Salesforce support requests.

    Data Management:

    • Maintain and update subscriber records meticulously in various online portals, ensuring accuracy and consistency at all times.
    • Transfer and standardize data across multiple systems, ensuring that information is seamlessly integrated
    • Validate data accuracy, ensuring that all addresses, identifiers, allocation values, and dates are correct and up to date.
    • Identifying discrepancies in data will be a crucial element of your duties, requiring you to escalate issues appropriately to maintain data integrity
    • Following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal quality controls will be paramount in your role.

    MERL Support:

    • Develop, consolidate, and maintain user-friendly dashboards and data visualization tools for internal stakeholders.
    • Work closely with the IL team and other departments to understand their data needs and provide administrative support as required.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

    Required Education and Experience: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Experience with relational databases and data integration tools; Salesforce experience preferred.
    • Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience within a nonprofit organization or education environment. Experience in data entry, admin processing, or back-office work, underscoring a background in handling administrative responsibilities with accuracy and efficiency.
    • Limited work experience will be considered if technical skills and qualifications are strong.

    COMPETENCIES:

    ACN Affiliates Program Fellow

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    • The Strategy & Systems Fellow is a high-impact, project-based fellowship focused on strengthening the operational architecture and performance systems of the ACN Affiliates Program.

    This role is designed for an analytically strong, systems-oriented emerging leader who will work alongside the Senior Program Manager to:

    •  Strengthen performance tracking systems
    •  Improve scholar-to-placement conversion analytics
    •  Standardize Affiliate operating models
    •  Enhance reporting quality and audit readiness
    •  Support data-informed decision-making across the program

    The Fellow will deliver structured outputs that improve scalability, transparency, and performance discipline across 15 Affiliate partners.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Affiliate Performance Systems Strengthening

    • Audit existing reporting templates and milestone frameworks.
    • Redesign a streamlined Affiliate performance dashboard (recruitment, training, placement, inclusion metrics).
    • Develop standardized reporting guidance and definitions to reduce inconsistencies.
    • Propose refinements to milestone-based funding triggers.

    Scholar-to-Placement Conversion Analytics

    • Map the full scholar pipeline: recruitment → activation → training → coaching → interview → placement.

    • Recommend practical interventions to improve conversion rates.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

    Required Education and Experience: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in development, economics, public policy, business, data analytics, social sciences, or related field
    • 2–4 years of relevant experience in program management, consulting, analytics, operations, or nonprofit delivery
    • Strong analytical and problem-structuring capability
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
    • Ability to synthesize data into clear written insights
    • Strong written communication skills

    Preferred Education and Experience: 

    • Experience working in youth employment or education ecosystems
    • Familiarity with Results-Based Management (RBM), logframes, or KPI systems
