    Experienced Manager - Audit and Assurance Reporting

    To primarily provide technical assurance and audit reporting services, assistance and training to KPMG partners and staff (audit, tax and advisory) through the Africa region and to provide support to the rest of the audit and assurance team.

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Researching and answering assurance, audit and review reporting queries for KPMG staff and clients in accordance with International Standards of Auditing (ISA’s), ISAE , ISRE the International Standards Reporting Manual (ISRM) and locally issued South African Auditing Practice Standards (SAAPS) and JSE reporting guide.
    • Reviewing reports submitted to DPP by engagement teams and liasing with the teams on these reports.
    • Assisting with the preparation and presentation of accounting updates and training on ISA’s, ISRM and SAAPS’s for KPMG partners, staff and KPMG clients through the African region
    • Staying up to date with developments in both local standards and ISA’s through internal research and involvement on local topic teams
    • Assisting with the monthly compliance reviews to ensure that the trainings achieved the intended results.

    Experienced Manager - Technical Accounting

     To provide technical accounting advisory services, assistance and training to KPMG partners and staff (audit, tax and advisory) and KPMG clients through the Africa region – levels of responsibility may vary for managers and senior managers, but will include management of staff, engagements and projects.

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Researching and answering accounting queries for KPMG staff and clients in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), IFRS for SME’s* and US GAAP* (*to a lesser extent)
    • Writing accounting opinions for KPMG audit teams and clients in accordance with IFRS, IFRS for SME’s* and US GAAP* (*to a lesser extent)
    • Being a technical consultant on specified audit engagements to provide dedicated technical accounting advisory services and support to the audit team and client
    • Providing technical accounting advisory services to KPMG clients on implementation projects within the larger RAAS BU.
    • Assisting with the preparation and presentation of accounting updates and training on IFRS for KPMG partners, staff and KPMG clients through the African region
    • Staying up to date with developments in both local standards and IFRS through internal research and involvement on local topic teams and market interest groups
    • Writing technical briefs and other articles for KPMG partners and staff on accounting application issues, including contentious or complex issues
    • Writing accounting articles for external publication and distribution
    • Assisting with updating the various technical “tools”, such as the South African illustrative disclosures disclosure checklists, and other tools

    Experienced Manager - Audit and Assurance Second Line of Defence

    To form an integral part in the Second Line of Defence team and perform reviews of audit engagement files in the firm (immediately prior to audit opinion sign off) to identify deficiencies in audit quality and non-compliance with the KPMG Audit Manual, KPMG Policies, International Standards on Auditing and International Financial Reporting Standards.

    To assist in developing and implementation of audit quality initiatives in the firm.

    To assist with determining remedial actions to be implemented by audit teams to enhance audit quality across all audit engagement files and provide audit quality support, including coaching and training, to audit teams within the firm. Participation in assisting with the implementation of these remedial plans.

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Liaise with DPP, Risk management and QPLP to identify the risk areas to focus the 2LoD reviews
    • Perform 2LoD reviews on selected engagement files.
    • Discuss and report findings from the 2LoD reviews to engagement teams, including Partners and EQCRs, and ensure findings have been adequately resolved before the audit opinion is signed.
    • Assist engagement audit teams, as part of the 2LoD review process, with guidance in relation with the KPMG Audit Manual (KAM), KPMG policies, eAudIT, International Standards of Auditing (ISA’s), ISAE, ISRS, the International Standards Reporting Manual (ISRM) and locally issued South African Auditing Practice Standards (SAAPS), PCAOB standards and JSE reporting guide.
    • Assisting with the preparation and presentation of training to engagement audit teams on trends identified during the 2LoD reviews, relating to KAM, KPMG policies, eAudIT, ISA’s, ISRM and SAAPS.
    • Stay up to date with developments in both local standards and ISA’s through timely attendance and completion of training, involvement in internal research and involvement on local topic teams.
    • Assist in reporting 2LoD review results to key stakeholders within the business, specifically to the Head of Audit, Head of Risk and the Audit Quality Council.

    Qualifications And Experience

    • Chartered Accountant (or equivalent qualification) with experience in performing QP reviews or coaching or DPP support or similar experience.
    • Minimum of six years of audit engagement review experience (i.e. cumulative experience in the roles of audit supervisor, manager and senior manager).
    • History and proven track record in achieving audit quality (e.g. satisfactory ratings for recent QP and/or regulatory reviews).

    Data and Analytics Manager - Audit and Assurance

    • Shape strategy to enable integration of D&A solutions to Audit engagements.
    • Lead the implementation of KPMG Clara Advanced Capabilities across the Southern African cluster.

    Experienced Manager - Audit and Assurance Capital Markets

    • Assist in reviewing, and providing advice on, reporting accountant’s reports required to achieve compliance with the financial information continuing obligation requirements of the JSE i.e. non-IFRS financial information and pro forma financial information;
    • Assist in reviewing, and providing advice on, reports of historical financial information, pro forma financial information and forecast financial information, for purposes of inclusion in circulars, prospectuses and pre-listing statements as well as the related reporting accountant’s reports;
    • Assist in preparing and negotiating comfort letter packages in terms of the International Capital Markets Association and 144A and Regulation A of the SEC;
    • Assist with preparing and presenting auditor training;
    • Assist with structuring transactions in terms of the JSE Listings Requirements and the Companies Act;

    Qualifications And Experience

    • Ability to register with IRBA;
    • Two years of experience as a manager;
    • An interest in rules and regulations. Regulatory reporting experience is a plus; and
    • Experience with a listed entity is a plus.
