    Internal Client Services - Africa Sustainability Office - Senior Manager - Public Policy (Location Agnostic)

    Main Purpose of Job

    • Support the implementation of the firms Public Policy (PP) mandate under the leadership of the CSO.

    Key Performance Area

    Strategic Impact

    • Provides support to the CSO in the development and implementation of the firm's public policy strategy
    • Stakeholder management – supports the CSO to develop and implement a market and stakeholder engagement strategy

    Differentiators for this specific role

    • Drafting position papers relating to key areas of public policy focus, including POVs, talking points, and thought leadership as appropriate
    • Co-ordinating communication with PP community across Africa
    • Conduct desktop research sense, shape and support key public policy focus areas
    • Monitoring of external developments in non-market environments across Africa to support PP sensing activities
    • Project management and co-ordination of PP initiatives including co-ordination of PP-led events with internal/external stakeholder teams
    • Assist with regular team reporting for Executive/Board submissions.

    Qualifications

    • B Com: Economics/Political Science/Public Policy or similar 

    Experience Required:

    • At least 5 years of experience in Public Policy or similar
    • Experience in professional services environment, or knowledge of South African/African financial economic or political landscape is an advantage.

    Business Relationships - Assistant Manager (Agnostic)

    Job Description

    • To assist with managing the Respective Take-On team within sphere of responsibility (Business Relationships across Africa) in the effective delivery of services to the business.
    • Assist with managing a team of Senior, Risk and Junior Risk Analysts and ensuring teams output is accurate, complete and completed in a prompt manner through reviews.
    • Ascertaining take-on cases have been researched in detail to ensure the correct conclusion is reached.
    • Compiling statistics and reports, where required
    • Employee Training & Learning etc.To ensure that all BRMS cases contain the required BRMS documentation that is properly completed
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases are completed accurately
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases meet the requirements in respect of layout and neatness
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases have sufficient, relevant and reliable information to be able to conclude on them
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases requiring escalation has been escalated and that the outcome of the escalation has been received.
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases are reviewed and validated before circulated
    • To ensure tracking of all correspondence to cases
    • To ensure that all BRMS cases are finalised and concluded on and all applicable people informed and notified.
    • To ensure that all statuses are monitored and followed up
    • To identify areas where Risk Analysts require training
    • To demonstrate a broader understanding of how BRMS cases impact the firm’s products and services
    • To display an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of the firm’s products and services
    • To ensure that quality of BRMS cases performed is maintained.
    • Regular communication with management when problem areas are identified, and keep management updated
    • Communicate with team and management when uncertain
    • Ability to communicate with Deloitte employees with less assistance from superiors.
    • Assist with general tasks on BRMS cases and where required provide training/presentations to business.
    • Assist with additional tasks that may be delegated in an efficient, appropriate and effective manner

    Qualifications

    Minimum Experience and Qualification

    • 3 x Year National Diploma/Degree
    • 4-5 years' experience within the function/area or similar
    • Advance Knowledge of Company Structures
    • Good knowledge and understanding of risk and independence aspects affecting the audit environment (“conflict of interest”/” potential conflicts”) from a business perspective relating to third parties/business partners.
    • Working experience in a role with exposure to risk management / due diligence
    • Knowledge of the regulatory bodies (IFAC(IESBA)/SEC/PCAOB etc.) applicable to the audit environment.
    • Computer literacy- Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word.

    Desired Experience and Qualification

    • Postgraduate qualification (relevant to Service Area / Business Management, etc.)
    • B.Com / Internal Audit / Risk/ Compliance or similar qualification.
    • At least 2 years at Senior Consultant/Senior Risk Analyst level within the function.
    • Good knowledge of understanding of the Deloitte Policy Manual 1430 (Potential Conflicts); application of the Deloitte Policy Manual 1420 on Independence impacting business relationships; DPM 1560 on Business Relationship Acceptance and Continuance; DPM1800 (Directorships), DPM1920 (Professional Services: Trustee and Executor Appointments) and any other applicable policies.
    • Display a good level and knowledge of business relationship checks for all business units/service lines of the firm and the different requirements for each.
    • Hands-on independence/risk management experience and a good understanding of independence/risk management in a professional services environment and the application of risk management methodologies would be an advantage.
    • Some quality management experience in a professional services environment.
    • Good computer literacy, with solid working experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Experience in the Phoenix (Microsoft Client Relationship Management (CRM) System) would be an advantage.
    • Ability to deal with more complex cases with less assistance from superiors.
