    Associate Professor

    Job description

    For appointment at Associate Professor level: Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa), at least a relevant Master’s degree, has established a national reputation as active in research and scholarship in MAF or Financial Reporting, makes regular and/or major contributions to knowledge of high quality, has an established track record of teaching MAF or Financial Reporting courses at a postgraduate level on a SAICA accredited programme, active and established postgraduate supervision and demonstrable effective management and academic leadership skills.

    If appointed, the successful candidate will be expected to:

    • Teach on a SAICA accredited programme in at least one of the two subject areas mentioned above.
    • Apply their knowledge and expertise in innovative and reflective ways to post- and undergraduate teaching (and including supervision at postgraduate level, in at least one of the two subject areas mentioned above, at the Associate Professor level).
    • Work within a dynamic team and contribute towards transformation activities, scholarship and related initiatives within the College.
    • Convene an undergraduate or postgraduate programme or at least one course in the MAF or Financial Reporting section.
    • Perform related management and academic administrative tasks, appropriate for the level of appointment.

    The following will be to the candidate’s advantage:

    • Prior teaching experience in at least one of the two subject areas mentioned above (including, at the Associate Professor level - substantial contributions to postgraduate teaching on a SAICA-accredited programme in the MAF or Financial Reporting section).
    • Evidence of competence in scholarship, in particular the scholarship of teaching (including, at the Associate Professor level - active and established postgraduate supervision and a research and scholarship track record that evidences meaningful contributions to knowledge of high quality).
    • Practical business experience.
    • Excellent presentation skills.
    • Specialised competence within at least one of the two subject areas mentioned above.
    • Academic administration and leadership experience, appropriate for the level of appointment.
