    Quantity Surveyor (Junior)

    Education & Skills

    • A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in a QS , specifically within the construction / petrochemical sector
    • Must have a completed professional qualification in QS / Construction / Building
    • Must have a solid understanding of SMP activities on site
    • Analytical skills associated with developing and utilizing performance measures and cost savings
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills essential

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare cash flow by analyzing the timing of sales and costs.
    • Where applicable carry out site measures in accordance with contractual procedures.
    • Ensure timeously submission of claims in accordance with provisions of contract.
    • Ensure that areas of concern are highlighted relating to contract costs, sales and margins.
    • Draft pre and post contract correspondence in conjunction with Project Managers.
    • Compile SE Ratio reports in conjunction with Site Managers.
    • Identify if material purchases are scope or variation.
    • Ensure control of client invoicing by submission of invoices and tracking.
    • Administer payments to subcontractors and suppliers by reviewing submissions in terms of contracts with sub-contractors and suppliers.
    • Ensure relevant legislation in relation to financial administration as compiled.
    • Resolve disputes in relation to client / subcontractor issues.
    • Prepare reports on commercial and contractual issues for the Project and Commercial Manager.
    • Monitor site procurement on receipt of regular reports.

    Project Engineer

    Job Description

    • Minimum of a National Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • A minimum of 6 years’ relevant site experience in construction / petrochemical, specifically within the shutdowns and maintenance environment
    • Must have previous experience with managing work teams on site with the ability to provide technical support and guidance during execution/shutdown phase
    • Must have previous working experience with NEC and/or FIDIC contracts
    • Excellent communication skills in the English language.
    • Problem solving skills
    • Team leadership skills

    Responsibilities

    • Provide detailed field data and reporting activities to provide current and accurate information for control of physical progress and cost of project works
    • Establish control criteria and monitor requirements for project activities
    • Plan and direct the work of estimators, cost engineers, schedules and sub-contracts administrators
    • Develop and monitor field schedules and craft manpower requirements
    • Forecast construction milestones
    • Review and approve sub-contractor’s programmes and progress reports
    • Review sub-contractor documents and administer with fairness. Scrutinize and recommend for approval all payment requests from sub-contractors
    • Execute specific responsibilities for project control as detailed in the project controls section of the operation procedures manual
    • Assist with maintaining budgetary control of work in progress and cost trend reports as needed
    • Maintain a detailed cost control system in accordance with requirements so that actual costs against budgeted costs may be regularly and accurately reported
