Key responsibilities:

• Formulate a strategy and implementation plan for the Mining Division in consultation with the Executive Committee and the Board.
• Align the divisional strategy with the Company strategy, goals, and objectives.
• Drive the execution of the Divisional Strategy.
• Lead and manage the Mining Division towards operational effectiveness and sustainability.
• Keep abreast of the business, economic and political climate in the regions in which the Mining Division operates.
• Prepare the Mining Division to meet the challenges presented by new trends and developments in the Mining Industry.
• Identify, source, and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Maintain and improve the corporate image and company reputation in the industry.
• Ensure all operations and activities of the Mining Division are conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, and legislative requirements.
• Provide general oversight of all activities of the Mining Division and inform the Executive Committee and the Board about trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Ensure processes and capabilities are in place to identify, mitigate, and manage divisional business risks.
• Lead and drive continuous improvement processes and initiatives within the Mining Division.
• Compile and submit reports on all relevant information regarding the Mining division to the Executive Committee and the Board.
• Provide safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) leadership and instil a culture of SHEQ leadership within the Mining Division.
• Lead a team of senior managers within the Mining Division.

Requirements:

• Engineering degree (NQF level 7)
• More than 15 years’ relevant experience in the mining and or contracting industry of which 5 years should be on a senior management or executive level.
• This is an employment equity position and open to such applications

Preferred/Advantageous:

• Registered engineer at the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Master of Business Administration (MBA).
