    Planning and Logistics Process Lead

    Job description

    Job location(s): South Africa, Jordan, Turkey

    This position leads the Planning and Logistics Process activity across all businesses in CAN MEA. You will be responsible for Supply & Demand Planning and Transport & Logistics, as per Supply Chain organisation blueprint. You will be the indirect report for all Planning and Logistics teams in each plant / country / region, and lead the activity within each team, and between the teams on a CAN MEA level. In 12-18 months’ time this will change to be the direct report for all Planning & Logistics teams. This role will be key in driving the SC activity from a country to a process focused organization.

    As this is a new role, a key component will be to forge a team identity within the Planning and Logistics functions, and create a structure of Demand & Supply Planning and Transportation & Logistics that ultimately serves the business needs. This needs to be aligned with the Commercial Go-to-Market offering and the CAN Business Operations and Supply Chain (BOSC) blueprint.

    Major Tasks

    • Strategy & execution leadership - 10%
    • Participates in development and implementation of long term Planning and Logistics strategies and vision in line with overall business strategy.
    • Create the basis to enable a workable S&OP process to balance supply and demand across CAN MEA, ensuring the commercial and operational targets are met.

    Planning - 40%

    Create, improve, implement and support Planning processes.

    Demand Planning

    • Create and maintain comprehensive and clean database for statistical forecast and add available commercial / market events.
    • Demand plan should enable the Purchasing function to order raw materials from this forecast via the ERP system (SAP).
    • Ultimately the Demand plan will be the basis for business forecasting. Scope of demand planning will therefore be extended over time in line with the Demand Planning structure. This will be initiated as a project to embed S&OP and ultimately IBP in co-operation with other key stakeholders (Commercial, Technical, Finance, Operations).

    Supply Planning

    • Translate mid to long term demand forecast into a supply plan, and monitor actuals vs plan:
    • Optimum finished goods stock and production plan (considering manufacturing resources/capacity);
    • Inventory planning (Finished Goods, Raw Materials and Packaging);
    • Actively manage supply issues / suggestions / inputs where customer demands dictate;
    • Own the business stock control process, including accountability for externally-audited stock counts at all locations.

    Supply Scheduling (Production Planning)

    • Create monthly /weekly / daily production framework plan aligned with stakeholders from MRP run.
    • Early detection of capacity constraints to propose adequate resolution: prioritization, production smoothing, network support from other plants, capacity extension, etc.
    • Assure daily production deliverables and monitor schedule adherence with production supervisors.
    • Plan and schedule through MRP the material requirements, and follow up deliveries with suppliers.

    Logistics - 30%

    • Create, improve, implement and support Logistics processes.
    • Responsible for overall logistics performance
    • Design & execute supply chain network to achieve business target on growth and profit
    • Responsible for Logistics operations, Import & Export, Domestic Transportation, 3PL management, warehouse & inventory management

    Strategy monitoring and performance measurement (KPI’s) - 10%

    • Customer Service – OTIF.
    • Customer service defect (OTIF) linked to capacity.
    • Production costs (absolute and per ton) on target by plant and for CAN MEA combined.
    • Deliver inventory targets (Finished Goods, Materials and Total) by plant and for CAN MEA combined.
    • Demand forecast accuracy.
    • Vendor OTIF.
    • Warehouse optimization.
    • Inventory accuracy.
    • Inventory shrink.

    People, talent, resource & budget management - 10%

    • Build high performing, sustainable Planning and Logistics teams to serve the CAN MEA business.
    • Accountable for Planning and Logistics budget in country and overall region.
    • Manages local resources to execute short and long term Planning and Logistics recourses.
    • Accountable for the recruitment, development, engagement, compensation and performance of team members.
    • Provides and arranges coaching, training to the team in order to develop competencies and ensure adherence to company core values
    • Accountable for team budget. Establish team budget on annual basis and monthly monitoring and reporting. (SG&A, T&E).

    Travel of 30 to 50% required.

    Education

    Graduate (or graduate-caliber), preferably in a Supply Chain related discipline.

    Experience

    • Prior Planning and Logistics Process lead experience;
    • Must have demonstrable experience of leading a team within a blue-chip / FMCG / Agri supply chain function;
    • Must have demonstrable experience of significant change management;
    • SAP experience is preferred – especially within a Planning and Logistics environment.

    Skills

    • Highly developed understanding of Planning and Logistics management principles;
    • Strong leadership to develop the team identity;
    • Strong leadership to develop process excellence within the team;
    • Demonstrated Planning and Logistics capability to successfully partner with sourcing, production, customer service, commercial teams, customers and other key stakeholders;
    • High drive and energy level, and well developed analytical and communication skills;
    • Conceptual strength to develop efficient work processes, training and execution;
    • Able to translate complex data into easy-to-understand presentation;
    • Strong stakeholder and change management skills are essential for this role, with the ability to communicate with people on different levels in the organization;
    • Investigative mindset, creative thinking with a continuous improvement attitude;
    • Ability to deal with complexity and to extract valuable information from background noise;
    • SAP knowledge (highly desirable but not essential) – working knowledge of an industry-standard ERP is required;
    • High level of literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Fluent in written and spoken English.
