Job description

Truworths is seeking a Visual Merchandise Presentation Executive. The prime focus is to create, develop and implement all visual merchandise presentation components (both in-store and windows) across all Truworths brands including Identity, Uzzi, YDE (Young Designers Emporium), Naartjie and EarthChild/EarthAddict to International standards of innovation and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• To establish immediate credibility (with Visual Presentation team; Merchants as well as key internal clients and external suppliers) and rapidly become familiar with the groups brands and identities.
• Play the lead role in developing and implementing the company’s strategies in relation to visual presentation, giving leadership and direction to the visual display team that aligns with these strategies.
• Oversee the effective delivery of services and display materials to Truworths ensuring the highest standards of governance and best practice in terms of supplier tendering/negotiation, presenting the Company to the relative stakeholders in an ethical and positive light.
• On a continual basis, identify and action areas of improvement in visual display - ensuring that the financial, risk and facilities of the company are always controlled and managed to the highest standards.
• Provide leadership, vision and motivation to both direct and indirect reports, ensuring that they have “stretch” goals and that there performance and contribution is measured against these defined objectives.
• Scan both the local and international retail environments to absorb and identify innovative and appropriate trends in visual presentation, effectively communicating to and influencing the company to even greater heights of excellence to ensure that we retain and grow the significant competitive advantage we have in this area.
• Play the lead role in developing appropriate visual merchandising principles for all brands inclusive of methods of in store product display, mannequins, hangers, shopping bags, promotional material, etc.
• Participate in and contribute to all retail and store design / visual merchandise forum discussions and decisions, taking a strategic and holistic view on all key issues.
• Play the lead role in determining the merchandise department (brands) layouts of all stores including the appropriate fixturing (floor rails, tables, wall configurations, etc.)

Requirements

• Must have operated at a similar level in a retail or associated environment ( e.g.: exhibition industry), and have a very successful track record in this area.
• Experience in negotiation with suppliers of goods and services.
• Good experience in managing and motivating a successful and competent team of qualified individuals.
• Credible leader who is Able to drive and deliver key outputs.
• Inspirational leadership skills enabling the person to drive innovation/creativity while maintaining world class standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to be flexible and quick in response to problem solving
• Strong ability to implement innovatively utilizing resources effectively
