Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The successful candidate will be required to:
• Teach and develop undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
• Supervise Master’s and Doctoral studies;
• Take a major/leading role in research and publication;
• Participate in academic management and administration as required by the Head of Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• A doctorate in Political Science, International Relations or cognate disciplines;
• A good teaching, research and postgraduate supervision record (Senior Lecturer);
• An established reputation as lecturer, researcher / postgraduate supervisor (Associate Professor/ Professor);
• Recognition by peers.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

• Appropriate communication skills;
• Good interpersonal and mentoring skills.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• Research focusing on critical, alternative, decolonial, South-centric, Afrocentric or critical feminist turns in politics and international relations;
• Evidence of a sound publishing record in the past five years;
• An NRF rating;
• The ability to generate third-stream income through research and related projects;
• Strong international networks and academic standing.
