    Team Manager - Manufacturing Engineering

    Job Description

    The Team Manager – Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for delivering base department and plant score card objectives, as well as managing the processes to ensure optimum conditions and leading input stability to support, as well as drive change and transformation.

    Position Details:

    • Promotes and ensure continuous improvement in the Manufacturing Engineering organization toward the common goal of improving product quality, plant competitiveness and total cost structure.
    • Coordinates the resources and activities of Manufacturing Engineering organization to meet the production schedules and launches within budgetary limitations and time constraints.
    • Lead Manufacturing Engineering teams in production scheduling, staffing, procurement and maintenance of tooling equipment.
    • Ensures department complies with control plans, as well as government/industry standards i.e. ISO9001 & ISO 14001.
    • Manages changes and improvements to achieve ideal work stations – Including MTC (Manage The Change) process.
    • Coordinates the resources and activities required to ensure problem free start-up, as well as facilitating start-up / shift to shift meetings.
    • Promotes and support Process, Production & Quality, Work Group Teams.
    • Responsible for one VRT (Variability Reduction Team) as Manufacturing Co-Lead – support within other VRT’s with respective Process teams, in VQR’s (Vehicle Quality Reviews ), PQR’s (Product Quality Reviews ), SAR’s (Special Attention Reviews) this will include G8D’s (problem solving system), 6-Panels, etc.
    • Champions constraint analysis and coordinate activities to eliminate the bottlenecks and drive for continuous improvement.
    • Analyzes the plant's personnel and capital resources to select the best ways of meeting the production quota - Contributes to the plans towards improving utilization of Labour.
    • Manages and Drive SQDCPMEL (Ford Operating Model/System) to achieve objectives / targets.
    • Addresses departmental Health & Safety and Ergonomics concerns.
    • Reviews departmental safety measurables and coordinates improvement activities.
    • Ensures deliverables are aligned with Action Matrix, 5-year plan, JPH ( Jobs Per Hour) Package, etc.
    • Leads Project Writing and process of collecting and evaluating data to draw in sound business cases.
    • Coaches and Teaches the team to handle and lead F&T (Facilities and Tooling) and launch projects.
    • Establishes the goal of maximizing equipment effectiveness to improve productivity.
    • Leads TCF’s( Trim, Chassis and Final Line) Purchased Services – Shatterprufe, AFS ( Advanced Fastening Systems) and Wheel Assemblers.
    • Reviews/approves and continuously identifies opportunities of improving Preventative Maintenance activities on tooling equipment, Manufacturing Tooling and Service Providers Operations.
    • Monitors the production run to make sure that it stays on schedule and correct any problems that may arise –improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures ) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) of DC Tooling (Electronic Torque Tool), AIS (Error Proofing System), etc.
    • Evaluates and delivers MOS (Manufacturing Operating System) measurable for Service Providers.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Some experience in Production
    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Ability to interact with employees at all levels within the organization
    • In depth experience in assembly manufacturing processes
    • Strong working knowledge of the Ford Production System (FPS)
    • Strong communication and problem solving skills (8D, 6-Panels) including working knowledge of Six Sigma
    • Demonstrate ability to work as a team
    • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, empower and develop employees
    • Demonstrated conflict management skills
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organization skills
    • Ability to work closely and successfully with others in order to deliver results
    • Working experience of Variability Reduction Team
    • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in ONE FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering, or related qualification
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
    • Knowledge of constraint management principles
    • Safety and Quality experience preferred
    • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)
    • 5 – 7 Years’ experience in automotive production
    • Minimum of 5 years at supervisory level
    • Min 5 years in manufacturing engineering in an automotive industry
    • Prior experience managing a unionized work force
