    Managing Director: Retail AF Life

    Job Description

    • The purpose of this role is to provide strategic direction and successful continuity of the AF Life business. To lead and manage the AF Life business by collaborating with internal and external clients providing them with innovative solutions.
    • To create growth and protect the assets of the business by continually directing its affairs and meeting the legitimate interest of its shareholders and other interested parties. The role has an official seat on the Retail Cluster EXCO.

    Required Experience

    • Minimum 8 years experience in running businesses with direct P&L responsibility
    • 10 – 15 years senior management with at least 8 years in Financial Services industry
    • FAIS Key Individual (preferable)
    • Strategic Planning and Leadership
    • Identify, develop and direct the implementation of business strategy that:
    • Ensure the business is run on sound commercial and professional principles and that its defined corporate objectives are pursued
    • Prepare the annual strategic plans, in consultation with the EXCO Team, and present to the Board of Directors for approval
    • Create the strategic vision for all employees
    • Initiate short-, medium and long-term strategies, action plans and targets in line with the defined vision, mission and objectives of the business
    • The business’ financial viability and cost structure are regularly analyzed and appropriate measures undertaken to monitor and reduce costs in relation to the operations and services provided
    • Review financial reports issued by the Financial Director and prepare the report for the Board of Directors
    • A regular review of the competitive environment is made and appropriate measures are taken to increase the market share and ensure that the business retains its market position as the leading service provider in the industry
    • Constantly look for and seize opportunities favorable to the expansion of the business’ activities such as identify, and investigate merger and acquisition opportunities in the Industry, and meet with relevant organisations and management of the companies identified
    • Maintain and ensure a communication link directly with other Directors and/or shareholders
    • Prepare and present reports and proposals on various strategic matters to the Board of Directors.
