    Studio Production Manager

    Job description

    We are looking for a production/studio manager for a fast-paced comic publication company, dealing with a range of products.

    The successful candidate will be meticulously organised, have excellent communication skills, and will be an excellent problem-solver who thinks on their feet. They will be someone who is not afraid of new challenges and hard work, putting in the extra hours when necessary without being asked, will work well with a variety of personalities and be able to manage multiple projects at the same time.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Control processes and functions that relate to production.
    • Set up and attend creative meetings.
    • Produce project schedules.
    • Prepping work for client review and final files for printers.
    • Coordinating the necessary designers, studio staff, creative/art directors and liaising with suppliers.
    • Source quotes and manage external production process with printers and other suppliers.
    • Liaising with internal stakeholders.
    • Keep a close eye on timing and deadlines to ensure the job is on track.
    • Ensuring smooth workflow.
    • Ensuring jobs are properly resourced and the team is aware of responsibilities.
    • Organising necessary freelancers if required.
    • Managing a team of illustrators, designers, colourists, writers and art directors

    Skills:

    • Must have good Microsoft Office knowledge.
    • Basic Photoshop skills advantageous.
    • Must be able to multitask and change between different tasks quickly.
    • A thorough understanding of the creative process involved.
    • Good interpersonal skills to deal with various personalities within the company.
    • A good motivator and ability to get good work out of the creative team.
    • Good coordinating skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to put the necessary systems and procedures in place.
    • Must be able to take initiative.
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines (must be prepared to work long hours when required).
    • Willingness to learn, accept instructions, correction and supervision.
    • Ability to establish rapport with clients, client service, production, creatives and suppliers.
    • Problem-solving.

    Publishing and/or agency experience required.
