The Role

You will form part of a dynamic QA team that are notorious for breaking code. The successful candidate will partner closely with Software Development Engineers and the Product Manager to understand product requirements and functionality to develop appropriate build scripts, test plans and test cases.

We are scaling the organisation and have an autonomous team in Cape Town, of which this role forms a pivotal part.

Responsibilities

• Build automated test scripts using JUNIT annotations & the Page Object Model design pattern, on the basis of user stories and manual test cases, in order to guarantee that product features are thoroughly being tested on all supported platforms.
• Automate test execution and reporting on results within and across iterations.
• Configure and maintain a suite of automated regressions tests.
• Create and maintain page objects to ensure the automation test frameworks scalability
• Review product design documentation to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable.
• Consult with product development to evaluate system interfaces, operational requirements, and performance requirements of overall system.
• Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions.
• Recommend design improvements or corrections to engineers throughout the SDLC.
• Maintain effective communication with the project software engineers on project limitation, capability, performance requirement and hardware interface changes.
• Execute test plans and create test reports to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.
• Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent re-occurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
• Conduct compatibility tests with vendor-provided programs.
• Formulate and design software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
• Ensure IRQA automated test framework is documented, with focus on continuity.

Requirements

• Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology, Software Development or Information Systems
• ISTQB Certifications (Advantageous)
• 2-5 years' SDLC experience
• 2-5 years' functional, load, negative, system, performance, exploratory, regression, api and integration testing experience
• 2-5 years' Isolation/Conjunction interfacing applications testing experience
• 2+ years' n-Tier, client server and database environment experience
• 2+ years' Selenium WebDriver / InTeliJ IDE / Java 4 / use the Page Object Design / SauceLabs / GIT / Eclipse / Maven / JDK6 / TestRail / Jira
• 2-3 years' agile methodology experience
