    Data Manager

    Job description

    Prior Work Experience / Background:

    • Knowledge of the financial industry (preferably CIS’ , Mutual Funds).
    • Experience in Correspondence (client communications) preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years management experience
    • Agile delivery

    Technical / Special Requirements:

    The following are required:

    • Ability to formulate and execute an appropriate correspondence strategy for Silica
    • Ability to manage and resolve critical correspondence incidents quickly and cost effectively
    • Excellent reporting and communication skills
    • Strong resource planning ability
    • The following would be highly advantageous
    • Project Management experience
    • Good SQL Experince
    • Educational Requirements (Educational / academic qualifications)
    • Minimum Matric
    • Business Degree or Diploma (in related industry)
    • Formal business analysis training advantageous
    • Formal testing training advantageous
    • Formal SQL training advantageous
    • Formal Management training
    • Relevant IT qualifications

    Key Performance Areas:

    • People Management
    • Guide and mentor the Product Owners and Technical Analysts in the team
    • Manage the teams performance according to the define KPA’s/KPI’s
    • Manage leave and absenteeism
    • Effective resource management and planning
    • Manage career and succession planning of the team
    • Ensure that staff skill levels are of the highest standards to support technical and business needs.
    • Manage training plan
    • Ensure that performance reviews are completed in line with Silica HR policy.
    • Assist Product Owners to manage their priorities on a daily basis
    • Assist Product Owners with client conflicts
    • Manage and assist the Product Owner with capacity planning
    • Provides an escalation point for clients
    • Communicate and provide regular updates to the team on project logs, problem areas, initiatives.
    • Communicate and liaise with internal and external client and provides relevant feedback or any product developments and or issues.
    • Appreciate, encourage and work with the diversity and differences in the team
    • Coach and mentor team members
    • Correspondence Delivery
      • Ensure that correspondence service delivery meets and exceeds the needs of all Silica’s clients
      • Manage SLA’s with the business and clients and ensure these are met at all times
      • Proactively identify the risks inherent in the Correspondence solution and ensure that these are appropriately communicated and addressed timeously
      • Ensure that the Change and Incident Management processes are followed
      • Define and document processes and ensure that these are proactively managed, improved, reported on and communicated to stakeholders.
      • Ensure Availability and Capacity of all components of the Correspondence solutions
      • Ensure that effective monitoring and response mechanisms are in place for the solution
      • Ensure that a quality product is delivered
      • Review and approve scripts, quotes, release notes and change controls
      • Understands client delivery holistically and plans accordingly
      • Attends CAB, Incident and Management meetings representing the Correspondence team
      • Ensures that the solution is aligned with governing architectural principles defined by the architecture forum and ensures that execution is done accordingly for product development.
      • Consistently looking at ways to improve and radically change the correspondence solution and experience.
    • Strategic
      • Drive effective strategies in Correspondence team to effectively meet Silica’s vision
      • Effectively communicate these strategies to both Silica’s internal and external stakeholders
      • Define the product roadmap with input from the Product Owner
    • Budget & Finance
      • Prepare Correspondence budgets, IT and People budgets, for the Correspondence Team
      • Ensure that all correspondence expenditure is within budget
      • Ensure that monthly reviews of Income and Expenses, including staff time reporting, is completed timeously
      • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
      • Ensure that all production services are successfully replicated at the DR site
      • Ensure that the team participates in the regular tests to ensure effectiveness of the DR site

    • Vendor management for all contracted services

    The Correspondence Manager must manage and take ownership of all Silica’s Fund correspondence, in terms of the delivery thereof within the defined SLA’s, incident management, change management and release management processes.
