Store Designer at Mr Price Group

Job description

The Property division of Mr Price currently has an opportunity for a skilled Designer who is able to work in a high pressure environment, “juggling” multiple projects at the same time. This role requires a creative but highly efficient individual that is able to meet tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills would be a necessity when it comes to interacting with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The purpose of the role is to deliver design work for the layout of a variety of retail stores in the Mr Price Group (MRP Apparel, MRP Home, MRP Sport, Miladys and Sheet Street) for new stores or refurbishments of current stores.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

• Under the direction of the Real Estate Project Manager and in consultation with the Operation visual merchandizing teams, execute store designs relevant to the brand and elevate and protect the brand, respond to site features and context, meet the customer and community profile, meet timelines and respond to market criteria.
• Develop and produce schematic plans, visual design packages, sketches, details and design intent drawing packages, materials specifications and schedules to support the execution of store designs.
• Develop design solutions in response to changing design direction, timelines, project and workload demands while meeting aesthetic expectations and operational requirements.
• Effectively present design ideas and share design work with clear, logical and understandable verbal narrative.
• Work closely with Visual Merchandisers.
• Produce design documents to the expected quality standard to successfully execute the intended design concept.
• Manage the production of design documents with external consultants, including but not limited to establishing effective communication channels, prioritizing projects, clarifying work scope, identifying exceptions and resolving issues.
• Prioritize tasks and responsibilities in order to execute multiple projects at one time.
• Participate in schematic reviews with cross-functional teams and follow up on co-ordination issues.
• Contribute to Global Development business goals by achieving target deliverables, meeting deadlines, quality standards, and market requirements based on direction from Project Manager.

The minimum requirements:

• National Diploma in Architectural Technology or related qualification
• 2-3 years’ experience, preferably in a retail environment
• Skilled in AutoCAD and Revit software (advantage)
• Registered with SACAP (South African Council for the Architectural Profession) or eligible for registration.
