    Head: Employee Relations, Wellbeing & Transformation

    Job description

    Department: Human Resources

    Main Purpose:

    Reporting to the Group Chief HR Officer, be a technical specialist advisor and subject matter expert either directly or in conjunction with Business Partners, provide guidance around Employee Relations, develop strategy and policies for ER,  Group Transformation and Wellbeing and oversee the implementation thereof. Report on Employment Equity Act enhancements to ensure compliance. Develop the HR, Wellbeing and Transformation policy framework.

    Educational Background & Experience:

    • Legal Degree
    • Minimum 5 years ER/HR leadership experience in a medium size or large company
    • Proven track record in leading ER teams and specialist functions
    • Proven track record in strategy formulations, policy framework formulation and custodianship in ER
    • Experience in the strategic positioning and implementation of transformation and wellbeing initiatives in a medium to large company
    • Knowledge of the legal framework in the different jurisdictions where AF operate
    • Sound judgement and level headedness in approach

    Main Requirements:                                                               

    • This function exist to act as an technical specialist advisors and subject matter experts either directly or in conjunction with Business Partners, to provide guidance around Employee Relations
    • Report on Employment Equity Act enhancements to ensure compliance
    • Develop Wellbeing strategy and management
    • Develop the HR policy framework, and facilitate the Employee Assistance Programme
    • Provides a specialists advisory service to HRBPs in the area of employee relations
    • Develops and delivers employee relations solutions for the business
    • Seeks out strategic opportunities to advance the Employee Relations function and service to the business
    • Solve complex business problems
    • Analyse information and select best solution from a range of alternative solutions
    • Responsible for development of ER, Wellbeing and Transformation strategies and implementation for Group
    • Lead the development of Group policy and interpretation for divisions
    • Manage and develop employee relations team across the AF Group of Companies
    • Responsible for developing and implementing ER, Wellbeing and Transformation strategy across the business and specialist platforms
    • Works with HR and business stakeholders to drive the transformation initiative and goals for organisational performance and effectiveness
    • Ensure the regulatory reporting and CoGP interpretation, implementation and adhered to in AF
    • Guide businesses from  in the Transformation Planning, execution and reporting in respective divisions
    • Represent AF in Industry bodies platforms
    • Actively design, implement and manages the Wellbeing strategy and resource allocation and investment with suppliers for maximum returns
    • Act as a custodian conceptualiser, composer for All HR policies in the Group.
    • Act as a principal consultant for all Employee Assistant Programme strategies and offerings.
    • Support the Group HR Officer will all high risk ER cases in the organisation
    • Provides a CoE to HR community to deliver in areas of expertise for all divisions.
    • Ensures a ‘best in class’ approach to area of expertise with Group objective focus
    • Proactively promotes a shared knowledge culture HR
    • Robustly analyses and proactively understand current and future legislative changes in the country that impacts business

    TCF

    • Ensures that TCF is understood and practiced by the people reporting to him/her, if any.
    • Draws on TCF management information (and potentially contributes towards the input thereof) to monitor progress in TCF and address short-comings relevant to his/her area with urgency.
    • Keeps abreast of latest TCF information and guidelines as from time to time.

    Core Competencies:

    • Drive the policy review and formation based on development in Law, Statutory provisions, or Group perspectives
    • Develops control systems to mitigate risks including Group and HR risks
    • Leads collective consultation
    • Oversees policies to ensure they are accurate and reflect current employment legislation
    • Provides expert advice on most complex and challenging ER, Transformation and Wellbeing  issues etc.
