Introduction

Cape Town Fish Market is looking for General Managers to oversee store operations and ensure that all systems, processes, policies and tools are utilised to achieve sales and profit targets. They must also ensure operational excellence and superior customer experiences.

This position will enable you to acquire shares in a store and give you a wealth of experience in the food and hospitality industry.

GMs who perform well will be given added responsibility and the opportunity to earn bonuses and acquire additional shares in more than one store.

Ideal candidates:

• Are enthusiastic, energetic and proactive.
• Want to eventually own their own CTFM and are willing to work hard to achieve this goal.

• Have management experience.
• Have strong communication skills.
• Are prepared to work extended hours, which may include evenings and some weekends.
• Experience in the food and hospitality industry (with exposure to both front and back of house) will be an advantage.

We are specifically looking for the following kinds of people:

• Someone who has experience in the food and hospitality industry and has always wanted to run their own restaurant but doesn’t necessarily have the cash to do so.
• Young graduates who have a passion for food and want to get a head start in the restaurant industry.
• Someone with years of business experience and cash to invest in a store.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure correct store practice, food safety and sanitation procedures
• Monitor food-costs, create reports and implement action plans
• Manage budget and monitor expenditure
• Ensure that store is adequately staffed
• Ensure that staff are trained for assigned areas and that training is recorded

• Ensure that staff are familiar with franchise policies, standards and procedures

• Conduct disciplinary hearings and investigations if necessary
• Run store audits
• If a store fails an audit, create an action plan to correct any issues
• Respond to and follow-up on all customer complaints
• Analyse information and submit to the Operations Manager
• Coordinate sales and marketing activities in store
