    Android Platform Partnerships Manager (Africa), Android and Play Business

    Job description

    Google's line of products and services to clients never stops growing. Partnership Managers have the rare opportunity to build a long-lasting relationship with our top partners. You cultivate these existing partnerships to make sure they can take full advantage of Google's ever-growing suite of offerings. You possess strong relationship-building skills and are apt to see mutually beneficial opportunities with partners in order to best represent our users, products and programs.

    The Android team at Google in partnership with a global network of industry leading companies and individuals forms the Android ecosystem. The Android Platform Partnerships team at Google manages that ecosystem. We help partners realize the mutual benefit from making, distributing and connecting Android-based products for users throughout the world. Central to this is the Android platform itself, provided open source at “Google scale” for free to anyone.

    Google Play is the official Android applications and content store hosted by Google, syncing applications and content across devices and on the web. Google Mobile Services bring the magic of Google to users in the right time, place and context.

    Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The team partners with Publishers and App Developers of all sizes to promote their ad inventory, working with Google's broad range of partner solutions including AdSense, DoubleClick Platform Solutions and the Ad Exchange, across mobile, display, and video formats, helping our partners and their audiences get the most out of the web. In addition, the Partnerships team supports Google’s own product teams with essential partnerships to help power Google’s user experiences in search, maps, travel, shopping, payments and more.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide research and market analysis for clients to determine the most effective sales and marketing strategies. Explore and uncover the business needs of Google's clients and understand how our range of product offerings can grow their business.
    • Observe and analyze market trends in order to provide advice for businesses on how for the market. Negotiate agreements for the licensing of Google software.
    • Lead and negotiate Android-related distribution and business growth agreements for Google services with manufacturers, mobile networks, electronics retailers, and other entities participating in the creation and distribution of Android devices and services.
    • Provide a viable strategy on complex strategic partnerships and act as the Account Manager for clients. Ensure that the prescribed strategies for specific clients are implemented and monitor performance results. Analyze the findings and share with the clients for strategy review and further execution.
    • Act as the subject matter expert for Google products - work collaboratively with product, engineering, legal, and other partner-facing teams to support and grow partner accounts. Mentor Partnership Managers on how to understand the markets, determine optimized marketing techniques with the goal of developing business growth for our clients.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in the fields of commerce/business, finance or related field or equivalent practical experience.
    • Experience in business development and account management within a corporate environment, encompassing business improvement, market, sales and financial analysis, strategy, advisory and the successful execution of identified objectives.
    • Experience within the information technology services industry. Experience with internet-related services in the mobile domain.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with ongoing partner relationship management and serving as an advocate for accounts internally, working collaboratively to identify opportunities or resolve issues.
    • Knowledge of Google’s Android Platform and related Google products and solutions, including technical product knowledge and related experience within the hardware and mobile domains.
    • Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level and manage multiple priorities working independently or as part of a team.
    • Proven ability to interpret legal documents and work with attorneys on specific contract language.
    • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to participate in agreement discussions and structure terms to achieve ongoing partner alignment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
