    Actuarial Analyst

    • The purpose of this job will be to handle the production of quotes for new business and renewal opportunities. Comprehensive analysis of health insurance risks associated with the portfolio will be conducted to ensure the well-being of the portfolio. Emphasis will be placed on driving continuous improvement in health insurance product pricing and development strategies. Furthermore, constructing comprehensive reports will be part of the responsibilities to proficiently communicate essential insights and findings.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure timely preparation, submission, and reporting of book rated new and renewal quotes.
    • Construction and maintenance comprehensive reports to give insights on key Underwriting KPIs.
    • Provide underwriting support in the preparation and submission of experience rated quotes and renewals.
    • Apply actuarial modelling techniques, statistical methodologies, and other analytical technical skills to extract meaningful insights on future trends and expectations within the medical insurance space.
    • Implementation and reporting of hit ratios and other relevant quote statistics.
    • Assistance with ad-hoc projects as and when needed.
    • Conduct competitor benefits and pricing analytics to give input in HH product development and pricing.
    • Perform comprehensive Trend Analysis of healthcare costs based on historical claims experience.
    • Building, maintenance, and improvement of actuarial, analytical, and pricing models.
    • Train internal and external stakeholders on various on Pricing, Product and Underwriting topics.
    • Conduct due-diligence checks on the financial soundness of In-Country Partners.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    • 1-2 years' experience. 
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Tools (Power Query, Power Pivot & Power BI).
    • Proficiency in at least one Statistical Software package such as R, SAS, SQL, or Python.
    • Proficiency in application of generative AI.
    • Good commercial awareness.
    • Good communication skills, encompassing the skill to simplify complex technical details for a non-technical audience.

    • Driven attitude, hungry for continuous improvement.
    • Problem solving nature.
    • Independent operator.
    • Ownership of responsibilities.
    • Analytics.

    Educational Requirements    

    • Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science or similar.
    • Honours Degree in Actuarial Science or similar.
    • 5 IFOA/ ASSA Core Principle exams passed (or similar level with another institution).
