    Administrator: Legal Support

    bout the Position

    A new and exciting opportunity has arisen in the Specialised and Alternate Dispute Resolution Unit of the South African Revenue Service. The team deals primarily with tax disputes specifically appeals, Tax Board and Litigation matters in the Western Cape Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general administrative duties, which include inter alia tracking, assigning and allocation of new appeals, Litigation and Tax board matters. Compile, update, and maintain relevant manual and portal registers on appeals, Litigation and Tax Board matters, and committees on a regular basis and per management requests. Co-ordinate and prepare cases for presentation to the Regional Appeals Committee. Maintain the rotation rooster of other committees to be attended by the professional legal team.  Responsible for financial and SAP transactions of the team i.e travel requests and acquittals for management and team, purchases and petty cash requests etc. Responsible for coordinating the signing of appeals settlement agreements between SARS and taxpayers and maintaining the settlement agreement register. Liaising with taxpayers, consultants and other SARS officials on complaint cases and maintain the relevant complaints register. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the professional team from an administrative perspective and attend to daily queries from taxpayers and other business areas at SARS.

    Overall, the successful candidate will be contributing to the overall strategic objectives of SARS as well as being part of a dynamic high performing team providing support to tax lawyers.

     

     

    Job Purpose

    • To provide administrative support within the legal function and provide supportive information to enable execution of core legal processes.

    Education and Experience

    • Higher Certificate (NQF 5) Administration, Business Management, AND 2 years' experience in a Legal environment.

    OR

    • Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 3 years' experience in Legal environment.

    Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

    • Higher Certificate (NQF 5) Administration, Business Management AND 2 years' experience in a Legal environment.

    OR

    • Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 3 years' experience in Legal environment
