    Artistic Manager

    Duties 

    • Taking responsibility for all concert and performance-related matters, including planning, programming, booking of artists, negotiating fees and drawing up contracts;
    • Planning and managing budgets and payment of artists and other related costs;
    • Booking accommodation and administrating travel arrangements for artists;
    • Compiling concert reports for general staff meetings;
    • Marketing of all concerts via websites, social media, including contact with the press and other media;
    • Contacting and communicating with season-ticket subscribers;
    • Collating information and sending out a monthly newsletter;
    • Communicating with Webtickets, including uploading concerts and managing payments;
    • Designing all publicity material (brochures, posters, flyers, digital screens, social media advertisements);
    • Designing all concert programmes, including compiling all content;
    • Compiling fundraising budgets;
    • Screening concert proposals;
    • Liaising with the Stellenbosch University Legal Division for all contracts;
    • Managing the departmental website;
    • Managing departmental publicity through social media platforms;
    • Promoting departmental competitions, master classes, colloquia and symposia

    Job Requirements    

    • Relevant tertiary qualification;
    • At least three years' administrative work experience;
    • Relevant knowledge of music, artists and repertoire;
    • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills;
    • Managerial level understanding of accounting and financial issues;
    • Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office package and desktop publishing;
    • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to tactfully deal with people at all levels;

    Proven organisational skills;

    • The ability to communicate in a multilingual environment;
    • The ability to work on and manage many projects simultaneously, to work under pressure and to meet deadlines;
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
