Assistant Director: Financial Accounting, Ref No. PT 04/2026 at Western Cape Provincial Treasury

Minimum Requirements    

• An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in financial management; A minimum of 3 years relevant supervisory experience.

Key Performance Areas    

• Monitoring and compiling financial reporting, including Interim Financial Statements and Annual Financial Statements; Collection and recording of revenue (banking and cashier functions); Management of the payment of Compensation of Employees (COE), goods and services and transfers and subsidies; Operationalise the debt management function; Conduct required system maintenance (Basic Accounting System) and monitor and perform month/year-end closure on the system in compliance with guidelines; People Management.

Competencies    

• Knowledge of the following: Public Finance Management Act, National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions and other financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; Public service accounting procedures, processes and systems; Performance management in general.

• Accounting and Financial management skills; Written and verbal communication; Proven computer literacy; People management.
