Assistant Management Accountant at Transnet

Position Purpose

•  Collating of information and investigation of variances against the budget in preparation of the monthly management reports
•  Collection of data for the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget and consolidation thereof
•  Co-ordination of minor works submission and collation of data for the preparation of viability models
•  Collection of data and input to support the implementation of terminal costing model to assist in financial decision-making

Position Outputs

•  Investigation of cost variances against targets and presentation of analysis to MA.
•  Preparation of management accounting statistics/numbers and investigation of qualitative reasons supporting the monthly reports to be prepared by the Management Accountant.
•  Collection of data and preparation/consolidation of budget schedules for review by the Management accountant aligned to the Transnet strategic objectives and budget guidelines disseminated from TPT HQ
•  Obtaining relevant information to prepare specific project and terminal viability models to support capital investment decisions and update the terminal viability models on a quarterly basis
•  Co-ordinate the approval of minor works submissions for the terminal, ensuring all the relevant documents have been duly completed
•  Preparation of monthly cost centre reports for review and sign off by the Cost centre Managers
•  Adhoc costings
• Collating data and input for the development and maintenance of terminal costing models
•  Analysis of cost drivers with a view to improving efficiencies and reducing costs
•  Provision of information as and when required by the MA, FM or Head office on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications and Experience

•  B Com Degree (or Diploma in Financial Accounting)
•  3 - 5 years in Financial environment including at least 1 year in Management Accounting environment TPT ROC Requirements: Number of years with certificates or no formal qualification:  
• Relevant qualification NQF 5 (120 Credits)
• Transnet Supervisory Development Programme (advantage)  
• Min 8 years exp relevant to the position applied for Standard Job Requirements  
• MS Excel Advanced  
• Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Powerpoint
