Assistant Professional Officer - District Spatial Planning Fixed Term Contract
A professional degree in Town Planning/City and RegionalPlanning or equivalent (4-year undergraduate or postgraduate Master’s degree);
Must be registered (or in the process of being registered) as a Candidate Planner by SACPLAN (South African Council for Planners);
Up to 2 years’ relevant experience in the field of spatial planning, with at least 6 months’ experience in the development of district or local spatial plans;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Experience in assisting with the compilation of forward planning frameworks and/or planning policy;
Basic knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software; and
A valid Code EB driver’s license
Key Performance Areas
Contribute to the research (data gathering, mapping,
surveying and interviewing), compilation (interpreting base line information), drafting and implementation (guiding development proposals using said policy/framework/strategy) of spatial plans, integration zone frameworks, and development guidelines for local areas within districts;
Providing spatial planning input and guidance to minor development applications/ land matters made in districts;
Providing spatial planning input and guidance to public investment / development proposals;
Support the planning, identification and prioritisation of:
key capital public-led investment projects required to implement district and local spatial plans and;
key interventions that are required to facilitate/ align strategic private sector development in the district;
Research and identification of tools or mechanisms to enable Transit Oriented Development (TOD) or implementation of spatial plans and investment frameworks; and
