    Associate Director

    About the job

    You will be joining an established team of technical SME social compliance consultants that is growing by geography and sector. As an experienced consultant with a background in human rights, social compliance, social performance, or responsible sourcing, you will be passionate about providing social compliance consultancy and working in a team that delivers compliance monitoring and capacity building to clients across the Middle East. You will have strong project management and execution skills and be experienced in building and maintaining long-term client relationships.

     

    Execution

    • Delivering social performance evaluation and programme design projects in EMEA and acting as a subject matter expert on multijurisdictional projects. Projects focus principally on labour rights and include capacity building in supply chains, training delivery, policy and management system design, compliance monitoring, issue investigation and SME guidance.

    • Independent scoping, project and project team management, report preparation and quality assurance.

    • Project planning including identifying project delivery risks

    • Monitoring costs and performance against project budgets to maximise profit margins.

    • Maintaining high standards of quality and client relevance in all work delivery.

    • Engaging in prospect and client outreach and proposal/pitch development for new projects

    • Attending and presenting at client meetings

    • Undertaking ad-hoc investigations into incidents and sources of human rights risks

    • Fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment in a culturally and linguistically diverse team.

    • Improving, implementing, and periodically reviewing on-boarding training for new team members.

    • Developing delivery capability within other EMEA teams through remotely delivered skills training.

    • Client management and business development

    • Maintaining SME by monitoring external social compliance, labour rights and human rights developments; providing internal and client updates on key issues

    • Preparing and presenting research papers to contribute to team and client knowledge, and support the development of client solutions

    • Closely managing existing clients and growing these relationships within the social compliance offering and for other services.

    • Identifying and securing new client relationships through pro-active business development efforts.

    • Representing Control Risks at events and other business development functions in coordination with other senior members of the team and broader regional management.

    • Collaborating with other regional social compliance or HSE-focussed teams on global business development initiatives.

     

    Requirements:

    • Significant, recent and relevant experience in human rights, social compliance and performance or responsible sourcing.

    • Fluent in English (speaking, reading and writing)

    • Excellent written communication combined with experience drafting complex reports and written proposals.

    • Close attention to detail combined with experience in quality reviewing and providing constructive feedback on team members' outputs.

    • Confident and experienced in delivering client presentations.

    • Demonstrable interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively in teams and influence upwards.

    • Ability to build relationships internally and externally with stakeholders at all levels within an organization.

    • Preferred

    • Experience in consultancy on social compliance (including labour rights and/or human rights) in EMEA.
