Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer(1611) at University of the Western Cape/Universiteit van Wes-Kaapland

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

• Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Department of Social Work.
• Conduct research and publish in the field of social work-related matters.
• Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
• Undertake curriculum development and assessment.
• Undertake community engagement and outreach.
• Provide academic leadership.
• Manage a division in the Department.
• Secure funding or third-stream income.

Minimum Requirements
At the level of Associate Professor

• A PhD in Social Work.
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning, preferably in the field of social work.
• A track record of quality peer reviewed publications.
• A record of successful postgraduate supervision of masters’ students and experience in supervision of PhD students.
• Evidence of expertise, national standing, and where appropriate, an international presence in the discipline of social work.
• At least five (5) years’ experience in social work practice.
• At least five (5) years’ experience in a higher education institution.
• Evidence of the integration of community engagement and learning and teaching/research.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).

At the level of Senior Lecturer 

• A PhD in Social Work.
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning, preferably in the field of social work.
• At least five years’ experience in social work practice.
• Evidence of a publication record in the discipline.
• Evidence of the integration of community engagement and learning and teaching/research.
• Experienced with postgraduate supervision.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
