    Asst Supervisor Metallurgy Section

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • Level 4: Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) and National Cert level 4 Certificate GET Education, Training and Development

    The Appointee should:

    • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent)
    • At least 5 years’ experience as a Control Room operator.
    • Have experience in Crushing, Milling, Cyanide leaching, CIP circuit operations, Sampling Assay and Analytical practices
    • Have experience in Crushing, Milling, Cyanide leaching, CIP circuit operations, Sampling Assay and Analytical practices Have knowledge of ISO 14001 and ICMI code requirement
    • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
    • Clear security screening record.
    • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operations Provides technical data across a broad range within the context of the Metallurgy function by gathering and recording accurate inputs and applying and complying with the authorised procedures, practices, regulations and standards. Assists Supervisor to control plant operation teams/shifts to maximize plant throughput and recovery at optimum costs and in accordance with established operating procedures and metallurgical guidelines to ensure production targets are met. Communicates with metallurgy and maintenance departments to run the plant to set parameters as well as for day-to-day maintenance and plant shut downs. Assists Supervisor to schedule and facilitate maintenance work daily and during periods of shutdown by liaising with the maintenance supervisors to identify maintenance requirements and completion of work orders. Maintains appropriate administration, record keeping, reporting and control in line with department’s requirements, interpretation and capturing of data. Attends and participates in meetings by providing required information based on acquired knowledge and experience. Keeps abreast of latest relevant developments, innovations and technologies by means of liaising with other sources and by attending meetings on a regular basis. Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets. Reports deviations to Supervisor. Ensures all accidents and incidents are reported, investigated, reviewed and follows up on findings. Takes corrective action when necessary Plans, executes and supervises all day-to-day process and maintenance activities in his / her area of responsibility Leads and controls all activities of staff and liaises with external suppliers /or and service departments Carries accountability and responsibility for ensuring the safe achievement of set production targets Enforces compliance to all mandatory codes of practice as set out in the plant operational procedure Ensure that the cyanidation process in the plant complies with the ICMI code of practices Plans and structures tasks over periods of time Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his / her work
    • Stakeholder Relations Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes. Financial Management Cost Savings: Adhering to cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations. Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. US PGM Operations: Enhance together for ICCM principles. SHE Compliance Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Quality Management System (QMS): Approve department’s documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System. Focus on safe production & operational excellence Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence Improve our position on global industry cost curve People Management Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. Manage performance and development of reporting staff. Ensure fair work allocation for team members. Inspire team members towards high performance.
