Au Pair | Benoni | R15 000 - R18 000 Per Month at Au Pair Extraordinaire

• Child’s Age: 6 and 8 years old - Girls 
• Child’s Neurodivergence Snapshot:
• 6 year old has ADHD, Autism (level 2, high functioning), and Sensory Processing Disorder. She enjoys horse riding and will start swimming. She is starting a new school this year, where she will also receive OT and speech support.
• She is currently at a developmental level of around 4.5 years and has a speech delay, so she struggles to communicate her feelings, which can lead to meltdowns. She does best with structure and routine and likes to know the plan for the day. Eating regularly is important to help prevent meltdowns. The Au Pair will learn her cues and how to support her effectively.
• 8 year old has ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder. She is very sensitive and experiences emotions deeply. Sensory sensitivities can be challenging for her - she prefers Crocs, the same two pairs of shorts repeatedly, and loose, comfortable clothing. She is very bright, does well at school, and has lovely friends. Her meltdowns are usually related to sensory challenges, and she can struggle to focus and complete tasks.
• Both children have strong personalities, so patience, consistency, and understanding are essential in supporting them.

Support Style:

• 6 year old attends OT, Play Therapy and Educational Psychologist.
• 8 year old sees a Educational psychologist.
• Working hours: Monday – Friday 06:30 – 07:30 & 13:00 – 18:00
• School holiday hours: Same as above / Slightly Flexible
• Duties: Responsibilities include school runs in the morning and afternoon, healthy meal prep for the children, homework and therapy support, and planning sensory activities to support emotional regulation.
• The role also involves administering medication and managing appointments, following a strict timetable, and maintaining structure and boundaries.
• Additional duties include driving the children to extra murals, running errands for the family, guiding the children to always clean up after themselves, and sticking to family rules and values. There may also be occasional babysitting on weekends.
• Special Requirements: A minimum of four years’ experience as an Au Pair / tutor for neurodivergent children, and a strong understanding of Autism and ADHD, including experience managing meltdowns and dysregulation.
• The candidate should be organised, reliable, and able to commit for at least 1.5 years. A valid driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience and access to their own car is required. The role calls for someone positive, energetic, and firm when needed, with resilience and the ability to handle challenging situations effectively. The position is available with the option to live in or live out. Above all, the candidate must have a genuine passion for childcare and supporting neurodivergent children.
• School: Schools are in Rynfield, Benoni (3kms from home) and Germiston (31kms from home)
• Start Date and contract term: 2 February – permanent
• Salary: R15 000 - R18 000pm - dependent on experience and qualifications (Gross, before deductions) + petrol card provided for travel done within working hours

All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:

• Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
• Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
• Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
• Must have a clear criminal record
• Must have a passion for children
• Must have Matric
• Must have a South African ID document.
