The Boys’ College invites applications for the abovementioned position which will be available from January 2024.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, self-driven, dynamic and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position.
The requirements for this position are:
A relevant qualification and proven experience in leading a sports programme within a large and busy institution
Minimum of 5 years of working experience within a similar position including managing a Sports System with both Recreational and High-Performance emphases
An understanding of the importance of sport in a boys’ school
Exceptional planning and organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
Ability to problem-solve, work collaboratively and proven examples of innovation and confidence in managing change
Knowledge of long-term athletic development and of modern trends in sports coaching and different sporting codes
The ability to co-ordinate and coach a variety of sports
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
Resilient and ability to use initiative, prioritise, multi-task and work under pressure
Experience as a tactful negotiator able to adjudicate in a dispute
Strong and proven relationships with schools, universities, national and provincial federations
Experience in the recruitment of high-quality student-athletes, coaches and staff with proven examples of such
An understanding of budget management and financial planning
A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
A strong appreciation of the importance of the College’s values and culture, and a willingness to work within the Methodist ethos of the College
