    Business Improvement Manager - eMalahleni

    Job Description

    As the Business Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating and implementing improvement initiatives for all mine activities. The process includes identifying opportunities through utilisation of key improvement methodologies, scoping of initiatives, analysis of data, facilitating improvement teams and implementation and applying control measures.

    Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

    • Data analytics and building dashboards for information used by the operation
    • Building presentations and other reports for mine improvement
    • Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, ensuring they are all kept up to date with information required and progress made in various projects
    • Ensuring scoping and maintenance of asset optimisation project pipeline along with appropriate tracking and reporting mechanisms
    • Sharing key insights and trends in Asset Optimisation with peers in other mines
    • Completing Initial Value Propositions for shared ideas, opportunities, and projects
    • Facilitating the Capex application process for CI Fast Track Capital and Capital applications. Analysing and reviewing the mine capital plan will be part of your responsibilities as well as reviewing Capex project closure reports and validating in project reviews

    Qualifications

    • Professional qualification at NQF level 7 (Degree or B Tech) in Engineering
    • Qualification in Industrial Engineering would be advantageous
    • Black belt Lean Six Sigma course would be advantageous

    Experience

    • In-depth experience in Mining, Process, or Maintenance Engineering within the Mining Industry, of which solid basis in Coal Mining
    • Basic Asset Optimisation experience within a large organisation
    • Experience in the use of improvement tools i.e., lean manufacturing and constraints analysis would be advantageous
    • Experience in using Microsoft Power BI, to interrogate data and build dashboards
    • Basic data processing skills
    • Experience in Python, C++ and Java coding advantageous

    Additional Information

    • Good working knowledge of the Coal Mining Process
    • Knowledge of the mining industry and relevant legislation
    • Good working knowledge of Coal policies, procedures, and processes
    • Abreast of best practices and new technologies
