    Business Manager: Group Sustainability and Corporate Affairs

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
    Working closely with the MTN Executive Leadership Team and the Opco CEOs, the Executive: Group 1. Mission/ Core purpose of the Job MTN is looking for a driven and result oriented Business Manager who can drive strategic positioning of the newly forged MTN Group Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Department working under the Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer. This high-impact role requires broader business and strategy understanding required to support in driving step change in MTN’s Sustainability and Shared Value approach.

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)
    The Business Manager: Group Corporate Affairs & Sustainability will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Co ordinate strategic programmes, complex challenges and cascade plans to deliver against strategic imperatives for the Department.
    • Research, benchmark, analyse data, to provide insights and recommendations for the Department on strategic high impact priority programmes.
    • Ensure alignment and delivery of services by the Department to key Group Business Platforms and Functions in alignment with Ambition 2025.
    • Drive structured meeting and reporting cadence for the Department and the company’s operating markets. Act as integrator for the Department.
    • Analyse , implement, and oversee processes for increased productivity and growth of the Department.
    • Manage key relationships and build a process to track and nurture relationships with key internal and relevant external stakeholders.
    • Draft all Group wide correspondence including reports, pitch decks, speeches or presentations as required by the Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer working with the Department Heads.
    • Assess all enquiries directed to the Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, determine priorities, and identify the proper course of action for resolution.
    • Manage information flow ensuring the Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer’s involvement or decision-making process is structured and timeous.
    • Provide reports, dashboards and presentations for Group governance structures such as Group Board, Social and Ethics Committee, Exco and related management bodies.
    • Manage the overall financial budgets and business plan for the Department.
    • Ensure KPI’s are set and provide regular performance feedback through a well-defined performance monitoring mechanism for the Department in accordance with HR policy.
    • Analyse, gather and summarize a variety of business and market information
    • Provide support, strategic guidance and analytical support for the Department.
    • Ensure that the company has the Department adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities.

    Role Dependencies

    • Working across functions, businesses, and markets
    • Deep understanding of the MTN business strategy
    • Management of senior internal and external stakeholders Accuracy and detailed orientated
    • Timely recommendations for decision-making and rapid response

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Degree in Business Management, Data Analysis, or equivalent field. Postgraduate degree would be advantageous
    • Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body as required for role

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
    • Relevant sector, industry, or area of specialisation experience (understanding emerging markets advantageous).
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies.
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization would be advantageous.
    • Proven track record of execution and managing competing tasks and demands
    • Prior industry experience and up-to-date knowledge of relevant trends advantageous
